2020-21 NEWSLETTER 1

WORKOUT CHANGES

NO Workouts Monday October 12 due to pool closure for Thanksgiving.

COACHES REPORT

Well...here we are! After 6 long months in various stages of coronavirus lock-down, we're finally able to attempt a club-wide re-start. Since you've all been overwhelmed with COVID-19 communication we'll not review here any of the expectations around facility and training protocols and procedures, other than to ask everyone to please ensure your focus remains on health and safety first, remain cautious and vigilant, and remember that we are in the midst of a marathon, not a sprint. All of our coaches have been reminded of this, and their focus to start the year will be almost exclusively on facility and training protocols and procedures. It's going to be great seeing our younger swimmers on the pool deck and back in the water, but our coaches will be monitoring proper COVID-19 behaviours as much as they'll be monitoring technique and streamlining and underwater kicking.

Belatedly, we want to congratulate everyone on an excellent 2019-20 swimming year, abbreviated as it was. We had some terrific results at every level, asserted ourselves yet again as the top club in Ontario's western region, and all signs were pointing to some exciting results in the spring and summer championship meets. We were just recently notified by Swim Ontario of Maggie MacNeil's selection as Swim Ontario's Female Swimmer of the Year for 2019-20, and our March 2020 OYJC boys team was named Most Improved!

Now, just like everyone else, we'll have to re-group, re-focus, and start the long process of training toward some great championship moments some time in 2021. We ask everyone to stay positive, stay patient, and stay persistent as we take these first tentative steps.

DRESS FOR THE WEATHER

Please remember that the CGAC screening process will be happening outside. We ask that you make sure your swimmer is appropriately dressed to wait outside for 5-10 minutes before accessing the building. This protocol is put in place by the Canada Games Aquatic Center staff.
Thank you, LAC Staff

LAC VIRTUAL DRYLAND

Please sign into dryland with your first name, last name, and group for attendance sake. We also need your cameras on for supervising purposes. Thank you.

2020 AWARDS BANQUET

While circumstances will prevent us from hosting a live, in-person banquet this fall, we will still be acknowledging everyone's accomplishments last year, and handing out all of our traditional awards. Those swimmers who received annual trophies at our 2019 banquet are asked to return them (sanitized of course) to their coach as soon as possible.

EQUIPMENT

We encourage all swimmers to have an extra cap and goggles, the coaching staff will not be allowing swimmers to borrow caps and goggles at this time. If you require a new LAC swim cap, a coach will give your swimmer a new cap at work-out and we will add $12.00 to your swimmer account and it will be taken out of your account with your monthly fees. You can find your swim equipment information on our website when you are logged in: https://www.teamunify.com/team/canlac/page/swimmer-equipment.

Equipment orders can be placed on the All Tides website - https://www.alltides.com/en/ discount code: LAC20 (for 25% off).

SPIRITWEAR

The team store is now open and will be open until October 4. LAC facemasks have been added to the store. The orders from All-Tides Team Store will take approximately 4 weeks and are expected to arrive in early November. Due to COVID-19 we will not be able to offer try-ons for the spiritwear this season but All-Tides has included a sizing chart to make the most educated decision for your swimmer.

If you have any questions or changes for your All Tides order please contact the following email address team@aquam.com.

SPEEDO FUNDRAISER

All-Tides and Speedo have partnered with Swim Canada to offer a small club fundraiser. For a period of two months starting Sept. 1, swimmers, parents, coaches and all swim fans will be able to raise funds for the club of their choice. A dedicated page can be found on the All Tides online store, where one can choose from a selection of Speedo products, and enter their club code when completing the purchase. Speedo will give the club 20 per cent of the total purchase amount. The club code to raise money for LAC is LAC. Unfortunately, we will not be able to customize the items ordered from this speedo fundraiser.

The speedo fundraiser is found here: https://www.alltides.com/en/speedoclub?p=1
