No workouts on Sunday April 10 at CGAC due to the Pentathlon.

No workouts on Good Friday April 15 except for swimmers going to the Eastern Canadian Championships.

Development swimmers will receive an email with Easter weekend workout changes from Coach Kim, all other groups will have regular scheduled workouts.

Regular practice on Easter Monday April 18.

Almost everyone's racing this weekend. A couple of reminders:

1)t-shirt rotation for Windsor is N-O-N-O, Thu navy, Fri orange, Sat navy, Sun orange and for the Pentathlon everyone try to wear this year's navy shirt. If you don't have a colour don't worry about it but be sure to wear a LAC shirt! And a LAC bathing cap.

2)focus your preparation on one race and one race only...the next one. It's physically impossible to swim more than one race at a time, so don't let an upcoming swim on Sunday affect the swim you have on Friday, or be thinking about your 3rd race of the session when you haven't even completed your first race of the session.

3)whether you are in a race for 1st, or 3rd, or 7th, or 9th...give it everything you have until you have stopped the clock at the finish. This commitment and determination can be a powerful weapon - other swimmers will start thinking, when they see you standing next to them behind the blocks "Oh crap, I've gotta race the LAC kid." When swimmers from other teams look at the heat sheets before warm-up, they're all looking for where the LAC swimmers are, and get a little bit worried when they see they have to race beside them, because they know it's going to be a battle from start to finish!

4)talk with your coach before your race, to see if there's anything specific they want you to focus on, and talk with your coach after your race to find out what you did well and what you can work on next time...because there's always something good to be taken from every race, and there's always something to improve

5)race smart, race tough, smile, have fun, and of course be sure to wear your mask at all times when you're not racing

If you want to watch the Trials races they are being broadcast live on CBC Gem each day at 9:30am and 6pm. You can watch Amaris and Kathryn and Maggie, and Summer MacIntosh too!

13 & OVER session 8:00 am warm up 9:00 am start

12 & UNDER session 12:30 pm warm up 1:30 pm start (please note time change)

Swimmers, coaches and volunteers will enter through the front doors of CGAC and spectators will enter through the back doors of CGAC.

All swimmers, coaches and volunteers will be required to wear masks on deck during this event.

All LAC swimmers are expected to follow facility regulations in both City of London facilities as well as in facilities in other jurisdictions. Our training and competition protocols and our vaccination policy are based on the latest guidelines from the Middlesex London Health Unit (MLHU) as well as directives from City of London Aquatic Services and our provincial sport organization Swim Ontario.

Despite the recent provincial government directive that face masks are no longer required in public spaces, we are mandating and will continue to enforce mask-wearing at all practices and competitions by all LAC coaches and swimmers, as well as by all volunteers working in an official capacity at our hosted swim meets, for the foreseeable future.

Our most recent team order has arrived and items will be distributed this week. If you have any questions please email All Tides [email protected]

If you have any questions about your swimmer statement please email Donna at [email protected]

Next Meets:

LAC – Long Course Pentathlon – April 10 - CGAC

LAC – Hollandia Spring Invitational – May 12 to 15 - CGAC

LAC – Dr. Paul Hauch Invitational – July 9 to 10 – Thames Pool

Our next meet is coming up this Sunday!

Pentathlon Minor Officials: Thank you again everyone. There has been some turnover and as fast as people remove their sign-up, it fills up again.  As I am writing this there is one empty slot.  Please make sure that you are qualified for the position you are signing up for.  Everyone can be a Timer. Strokes and Turns and Safety Marshal each require a clinic.  If your situation changes and you cannot make it, please do remove your sign-up or, if the sign-ups are locked, then please email [email protected] to let them know.  If you could not get a job and wanted one, when you drop off your swimmer for warm-up, stop by the official’s room and see if any help is needed due to last minute drop-outs or no shows.

Pentathlon Senior Officials: Thank you senior officials!  I have all of my spots filled except stroke judges in the afternoon and I am fine with that.

Meet Dress Code: Timers and Chief Timers wear white shirts.  Everyone else wears red shirts.  Bottoms for all should be dark pants or shorts, preferably black.  Foot wear should be CLEAN shoes that grip and can get wet.

When to Arrive: Please arrive at least 45 minutes before the racing starts.  Check-in in the official’s room so we know you have arrived and then be there for the briefing 30 minutes before racing starts.

More Meet Information:  Go to the LAC Web Page under the LAC hosted Meets tab, Click on LAC – Long Course Pentathlon and check out the various links.

If you have any officiating questions please contact me, Mark Lukings, L.A.C. Co-Club Officials Chair at [email protected]  Note: This is volunteer work for me, so I may not get back to you immediately but, if urgent, I can handle a reminder.

The club has a long-standing policy regarding volunteer participation in our hosted swim meets, which includes the "earning" of mandatory session credits through working at our hosted swim meets.  The session credit policy can be found on the LAC website under the "parent info" tab under "LAC policy #2 - Club Hosted Meets and Session Credits". With some of our hosted racing events being cancelled, our Board of Directors has reviewed the Session Credit Policy and unanimously approved a revision to the policy for the rest of the 2021-22 year as follows:

Families of swimmers in Age Group and Senior are required to earn 16 session credits.

Families of returning Development swimmers are required to earn 8 session credits.

New families are not required to earn session credits but can transfer up to 5 session credits if they should decide to volunteer (which of course is encouraged and applauded)!

Families with swimmers that have transferred from another team are considered returning swimmers and are subject to the session credit policy.

Any unworked session credits will be billed to your swimmer account at $40 per session.

The LAC Board will continue to review the Session Credit Policy as the year progresses.

Please remember that all individual swim practice equipment purchases you make on the All Tides website using our LAC coupon code result in a kickback to the club, received at the end of the year. Last year the club received almost $1000 through this arrangement, most of which was put toward the purchase of dryland training equipment. You are helping the club by making your swim equipment purchases through AllTides. All group swim equipment information can be found on our website when you are logged in:  https://www.teamunify.com/team/canlac/page/swimmer-equipment
