WORKOUT CHANGES

THERE WILL BE NO LAC WORKOUTS FROM DEC 20 TO DEC 26 – HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

The Dec 27 – Jan 2 practice schedule is posted on the LAC website under the “schedule” tab.

If you have any questions about the practice schedule, please direct them to your swimmer's primary group coach.

COACHES REPORT

CONGRATULATIONS to everyone who raced in Brantford. To show such durability and versatility and resilience, swimming on "back-to-back" weekends, Nothers then Brantford, after not having done much (if any) racing at all in the past 20 months, is outstanding, and points to how hard you have all been working and how tough the pandemic has made you!

Congratulations to first-time WOSA Championship qualifiers Derek Isings, Alex Lee and Paisley Vachon; to first-time Provincial Festival qualifier Patrick Malone; and to first-time Eastern Canadian Championship qualifiers Isabelle Burton and Maggy Yang. And congratulations also to first-time All Time Top 10 Performer Alana Skilling.

There is one more time trial on Sun Dec 19 for some groups, but based on the results from the last 2 weekends it is time for many of you to re-set your goals and re-dedicate yourself to performing at a consistently higher standard in your training. Because the higher you rise, the stiffer and tougher the competition becomes - thus, your daily training needs to become that much better. So, yes, congratulations everyone on taking some nice big steps forward and upward...but now get ready to take some big steps forward and upward in your training over the next several months!

Good luck to our 5 swimmers racing at the Ontario Junior International in Toronto this weekend.

Finally, congratulations to Hannah Burns for her selection to, and participation in, a Swim Ontario-sponsored provincial PARA tour to Saskatoon last week. Hannah was one of only a few Ontario PARA swimmers identified to attend this event, and was accompanied by Coach Darda.

11&UNDER VACCINATION POLICY

The Board of Directors has unanimously approved the revision of the club's COVID-19 mandatory vaccination policy to now include those swimmers born in 2010 or later, who are now eligible for vaccinations. In order to participate in LAC programming, all swimmers born in 2010 or later now must have their first vaccination by January 1, 2022 and their second vaccination by March 1, 2022. While we are hopeful this will not be the case, any families unable or unwilling to comply with this policy will be eligible for a membership fees refund to be determined based on their swimmer's last day of participation in the program.

Either a hard copy or a digital copy of proof of vaccination presented to the swimmer's primary coach shall be the process by which swimmers are confirmed eligible to participate in LAC programming.

ALL TIDES SPIRIT WEAR

The bulk of the second spiritwear and bathing suit order from All Tides has arrived and will be distributed in the next few days. The remainder of the 2nd order will be shipped on December 13 and should be here before Christmas!

IT’S OFFICIAL!

It was nice seeing LAC swimmers, and some parents, at Brantford while operating the timing system for the last two sessions on Sunday!

Thanks to everyone who has signed up for the Holiday Time Trial on December 19!  It looks like everyone who needs to be qualified is, all the minor official spots were full, last I looked, and MOST of you are fully registered as officials.  For the 7 volunteers who are not yet registered, watch for an email from [email protected] which will contain your logon information.  The email will probably arrive this Thursday evening.

If you are hoping to be a senior official please email me at the email address below, include ‘Holiday’ or ‘December’ in the subject, tell me the session(s) that you want to work and the job(s) that you would prefer to do.  If you have already signed up as a minor official (Timer or Judge of Strokes and Turns), stay signed up there until I confirm that you have a senior job so that, if I do not have one for you, then you still have a job.  As soon as I DO confirm that you have a senior job, please remove your minor official sign-up for that job so that someone else can have it.  I expect to get back to senior volunteers this weekend.

I will be having clinics in some form between now and the 12 & Under Celebration (January 15 & 16), and more before WOSA (February 25 to 27).

If you have any officiating questions please contact me, Mark Lukings, L.A.C. Co-Club Officials Chair at [email protected]  Note: This is volunteer work for me, so I may not get back to you immediately but, if urgent, I can handle a reminder.

SWIM MEET VOLUNTEER SESSION CREDITS

With us seemingly back to almost-normal with sanctioned swim meets, as more clubs and more swimmers come to our hosted meets, the need for more volunteer officials will be even greater. The club has a long-standing policy regarding volunteer participation in our hosted swim meets, which includes the "earning" of mandatory session credits through working at our hosted swim meets.  The session credit policy can be found on the LAC website under the "parent info" tab under "LAC policy #2 - Club Hosted Meets and Session Credits".

Families of swimmers in Age Group and Senior are required to earn 22 session credits each year.

Families of returning Development swimmers are required to earn 11 session credits.

New families are not required to earn session credits but can transfer up to 5 session credits if they should decide to volunteer (which of course is encouraged and applauded)!

Families with swimmers that have transferred from another team are considered returning swimmers and are subject to the session credit policy.

Any unworked session credits will be billed to your swimmer account at $40 per session.

EQUIPMENT

Please remember that all individual swim practice equipment purchases you make on the All Tides website using our LAC coupon code result in a kickback to the club, received at the end of the year. Last year the club received almost $1000 through this arrangement, most of which was put toward the purchase of dryland training equipment. You are helping the club by making your swim equipment purchases through AllTides. All group swim equipment information can be found on our website when you are logged in:  https://www.teamunify.com/team/canlac/page/swimmer-equipment
