Competitive Groups

The following program outline describes LSC's program offering for the 2019-2020 season.

Lakeshore Performance — “I am ready to commit to being a competitive swimmer year-round. I want to train to compete at the highest levels”

Time Standard (13+): Qualified for “OYJ” minimum |   Attendance: 90%

Swimmers in Lakeshore Performance want to progress to the highest levels and represent LSC on the Provincial and National stage. They take their attendance seriously and understand that there are no shortcuts in sport. They have demonstrated a willingness to do the work required of the high performing swimmer in their previous group. They understand the importance of great time management — the best swimmers make it to practice and complete their school work on time.

Selection to the Lakeshore Performance group is at the sole discretion of the Head Coach. Achievement of the time standard listed above is for consideration only and does not guarantee placement in the group.

Senior — “I am ready to commit to being a competitive swimmer year round. I enjoy competing and want to continue improving”

Target Age: 13+  |  Attendance: 85%

Swimmers in Senior have demonstrated a commitment to competitive swimming and want to continue to improve their skills. They will race often and work towards swimming at the provincial level. They understand the importance of great time management — the best swimmers make it to practice and complete their school work on time. 

Comp 1 — “I want to focus on competitive swimming and take my progression seriously”

Target Age: 10 - 13  |  Attendance: 90%

Swimmers in Comp 1 want to take their swimming development seriously and they want to compete at a higher level. They have demonstrated excellent technical skills and a willingness to work hard. They will learn to train towards specific goals. Swimmers will compete often and will learn to hold themselves accountable for their training.

Comp 2 — “I enjoy competitive swimming and want to be an athlete”

Target Age: 10 - 13

Swimmers in Comp 2 have taken to the sport, want to begin learning advanced skills, and want to be athletes in the pool. Swimmers will learn to train at different levels, and begin swimming higher volumes. They will learn to push themselves outside their comfort zones and will compete more often. 

Comp 3 — “I enjoy swimming and want to try competing”

Target Age: 8 - 11 

Swimmers in Comp 3 have demonstrated above average skills learned through our Fundamentals program or another equivalent outside LSC. They have shown a real interest in the sport and would like to try training and racing. The focus of this group is on fundamental skills and fostering a love for the sport of competitive swimming.
