Thank you for your interest in joining Markham Aquatic Club (MAC). Welcome to the exciting world of competitive swimming!

MAC has been fostering excellence in the sport of competitive swimming for over 40 years. Our club is inclusive and community-based. We take pride in providing opportunities for all swimmers to develop their full potential in the sport of competitive swimming.

To join MAC, every new swimmer must attend an assessment conducted by a MAC Coach to determine whether they have the swimming skills and abilities to join our program.

Swimmers will be assessed for admission into either our Pre-Competitive swim skills program called "Olympic Prospects" or our Competitive program groups. Usually swimmers that have never swam competitively before and are under the age of 10 will be assessed for our pre-competitive Olympic Prospects program.  All new swimmers over the age of 10 will be assessed for our Competitive program groups. The assessment takes about 15 - 20 minutes.

Please contact our MAC club office at 905-475-8161 or at [email protected] to book an assessment.

  • Assessment form (bring the completed form with you on the day you choose to attend)
  • Swimsuit (No baggy shorts or ’beach wear’)
  • Towel
  • Goggles
  • Cap

All swimmers should be changed and ready to swim at the start of the session.  No decisions regarding group placement will be made on the day of the assessment.  Each swimmer will receive an email with their results within a couple of days.  If you have any questions, please email us at [email protected].

MAC normally swims at the Markham Pan Am Centre, Aaniin Community Centre, Centennial Community Centre, Cornell Community Centre, Angus Glen Community Centre, and Thornlea Community Centre. Some groups occasionally swim at different pools based on availability and pool closures. Depending on the group your child swims in you may have practices at one or more pools.  Not all groups swim at all pools so you may find that your child’s group does not swim at the pool closest to your home.
