The MAC Swim Challenge is a fun endurance swim fundraising event organized by the MAC fundraising committee. Swimming will take place during the week of May 2, 2022. All MAC swimmers participate to raise funds for our club. The MAC Swim Challenge is a great tradition at MAC. This year, our target goal is $67,000. The top earners win prizes!

Distance: All MAC swimmers will attempt to swim 1Km or 5Km based on their group. Those in TAG, Bronze, Silver, Gold and Senior will attempt to swim 5000 metres non-stop in two hours or less. Swimmers in OP will attempt to swim 1000 metres non-stop in one hour. The final distance achieved may vary among OP and TAG swimmers. Don't worry! It is simply an attempt to swim the distance! Swimmers should try to swim as many laps as they can in the allocated time.

Required Minimum $: OP families must raise a minimum of $200 for the 1K swim. TAG, Bronze, Silver, Gold and Senior families must raise a minimum $400 for the 5K swim. Swimmers that fall short of raising the minimum required amount will have the balance added to their accounts. Swimmers have a period of many weeks prior to the challenge to get sponsors and raise as much money as possible using the tools provided on our MAC Swim Challenge website. Click to set up your swimmer profile and get started!

Please download and print the lap counting sheet and bring it with you to the pool to count your swimmer's laps.

The Swim Challenge is not a swimming race, but it IS  a fun challenge. Let's see who can raise the most money!!! This is a FUN way for each MAC swimmer to share their love of swimming with others while doing their part to give back to our club. The MAC coaches, social committee and our parent rep team are planning fun surprises which may include music playing on deck (where possible) and special treats for swimmers after they finish. Please encourage your swimmer and remind them this is about having fun and accomplishing the goal to the best of their ability as part of Team MAC!

Raising sponsorship donations is easy.  Every swimmer creates a profile on the MAC website Swim Challenge page. The tools built into the site allow swimmers to reach out to family, colleagues, friends and email contacts. Donors can easily make a pledge with their credit card. Please note: A $3.95 per credit card transaction for each donation goes directly to TeamUnify (not MAC) to cover banking and adminstrative fees. Some families would rather just donate directly without seeking sponsorships. That is fine. Simply follow the same method by creating a profile, entering your own email and donating directly. In the past, swimmers have easily been able to surpass the $200 or $400 minimums by reaching out to family, neighbours, business colleagues etc. This is a great opportunity to show off all the hard work you've done in training during the season! The more money you raise, the more likely you are to win prizes!

Like most non-profit swim clubs across Canada, MAC organizes a Swim Challenge to cover operating costs and offset fee increases. Monthly swim dues cover only about 50 percent of MAC's monthly expenses. The other 50 percent comes from fundraising and swim meet revenue. MAC was unable to hold the Swim Challenge Fundraiser or generate revenue through swim meets in 2020-21 due to the pandemic closures. The Board of Directors approved a fundraising goal of $67,000 for the 2022 Swim Challenge. It is essential that everyone in the club participates.
