Another busy weekend of competitions this past weekend saw MAC swimmers competing at 2 Provincial Level competitions., The Ontario Swimming Championships held at TPASC and the Ontario Youth-Junior Championships that were held at Markham Pan Am.

Grace Chai (13), Aryn Frederick (14) Steven Hui (15) and Jessica Sheng all donned their Blue and Gold MAC uniforms and represented the club extremely well and posted some outstanding results.

Leading the charge was Jessica Sheng who made finals in each of her 5 swims. Sheng found herself on the podium in the Silver medal position after posting a great time in the 100 Freestyle of 59.34. Sheng who just recently aged up to the 14-year-old age group is now currently ranked #5 in the country in her new age group. Sheng also posted best times in the 100 Back and 200 Free. Sheng’s performances were a great sign as she will be competing at the Canadian Olympic Trials at the end of this month.

Grace Chai continued to scale the National Age rankings by posting best times in the 50, 100 and 200 Freestyle events. Chai also made finals in both the 50 and 100 Free, doing so in her first ever Provincial Championships. Grace is now Nationally ranked 8th and 9th in the 100 Free and 50 Free respectively for 13-year-old girls. Chai also qualified for Canadian Junior Champs later this summer in Montreal.  Keep an eye on this one as her future is looking bright.

Aryn Frederick swimming in her first ever Provincial championships put up a respectable time in her 50 Freestyle but did not make a second swim in the event. Aryn has a treasure trove of talent within her and its only a matter of time before she can maximize her skills.

Steven Hui struggled to find his best form but managed to get best times in the 200 I.M., 200 Free and 8oo Free. While swimming the 800 Free Steven attempted to qualify for an additional Easterns event in the 400 Free as an official split time. Steven successfully touched at 400 metres under the standard, having to complete the 800-metre distance for the 400 time to count... Steven quickly got back on pace and narrowly missed Easterns qualifying in the 800 as well.

It was a great showing for these swimmers who will all be competing at the Eastern Canadian Championships in Windsor later in April.
