Introduction to Competitive Swimming Program is called the Olympic Prospects (OP) Program

Our goal is to establish a strong foundation in our swimmers while instilling a love of swimming so that children and families enter the sport with an opportunity for lifelong enrichment. Olympic Prospects is a technique based program for all four competitive strokes and introduces young swimmers to the sport of swimming.

Every new swimmer must go through an assessment (tryout) prior to being accepted into the Program. The assessment is used to determine if the swimmer is ready for the program and what level does the swimmer best match.

Entrance Criteria (7-10 years of age for OP Program) and must be able to swim 25 meters or 1 length of the pool without stopping, and also be able to swim in the deep end.

During the assessment, coaches are looking for swimmers that are able to achieve the following at the minimum:

  • Proficient flutter kick on front and back for 25m;

  • Swim 25 metres of freestyle with bilateral breathing and backstroke;

  • Comfortable with deep water, able to tread water for 1minute without assistance;and

  • Make changes to technique upon instruction

Currently the Olympic Prospects Program is divided into 3 groups :

  • OP 1 which swims three times a week
  • OP 2 and OP 3 which swim 2 times a week
  • OP Development which swims 1 time a week

The schedule and pool location(s) are still to be determined.
