Building an inclusive environment wherein all athletes are challenged to be their best.​

RIPTIDES   –   Riptides are our youngest and newest swimmers! Swimmers interested in joining Riptides must be at least 7 years old as of September 1st, 2021, and they should be able to swim one length of the middle pool without stopping (preferably freestyle/front crawl with their face in the water). It is also recommended that prospective Riptides swimmers be comfortable kicking on their back!

WAVERUNNER   –   Waverunners are among our youngest and newest swimmers! Swimmers interested in joining Waverunner must be at least 7 years old as of September 1st, 2021, and they should be able to swim one length of the middle pool without stopping of both freestyle (front crawl) and backstroke (back crawl). It is also recommended that prospective Waverunner swimmers have a basic understanding of dolphin kick and whip kick, but those skills will be taught!

FUTURE OLYMPIANS   –   Future Olympians are swimmers developing skills in all four strokes and learning to compete! Swimmers interested in joining Future Olympians should either have a recommendation from their Riptides or Waverunner coach or complete a skills assessment by scheduling with the Head Coach at [email protected]!

AGE GROUP   –   Age Group is for swimmers comfortable in all four strokes and IM who are looking to train harder and race faster! Swimmers interested in joining Age Group should either have a recommendation from their Future Olympians coach or complete a skills assessment by scheduling with the Head Coach at [email protected]!

SENIOR   –   Senior is for swimmers who need a stepping stone to the Performance group or who are training for fun and fitness! Swimmers in this group should be comfortable swimming the full range of competitive individual events (including distance freestyle).

PERFORMANCE   –   Performance is for swimmers who are training to compete. Swimmers interested in training in this group should qualify for Provincial-level meets or have an invite from the group coach. This group has the highest commitment level in the club, so swimmers desirous of a spot should be prepared to make that commitment.

The above are guidelines designed to help you determine the best fit for your swimmer. The coaches reserve the right to make final decisions with regard to group placement for all swimmers.

A form will be sent out after registration wherein you will choose your practice options. Any changes to your choices must go through the Head Coach, reachable via [email protected].

SSAT reserves the right to enforce minimum and maximum limits on group size to avoid overcrowding.
