The Nanaimo White Rapids Swim Club is a non-profit, parent run, competitive summer swim club that was formed in 1966 with emphasis on personal improvement, to encourage both physical and mental development and to develop friendships that will last a lifetime.  The Club operates Kin Pool in Bowen Park through a co-management agreement with the City of Nanaimo.  We offer a competitive summer swimming program as a member club of the BC Summer Swimming Association (BCSSA), a Mini Rapids public swim lesson program, public swim sessions and private pool rentals.

The competitive swim program offers an intensive training program that operates from May to mid-August with local, regional and provinical championship meets.  The club also offers off-season training from September to April.  The swimmers are coached by highly qualified and experienced coaches in the technical aspect of all four strokes, endurance, and swim meet procedures. Swim meets are a large part of summer swimming and are scheduled around Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland through June, July and early August.  Swim meets are not mandatory, however swimmers are encouraged to swim at the Nanaimo meets.  Swim meets are a great way for swimmers to see self-improvement and build friendships with teammates and swimmers from other clubs.

The Mini Rapids Swim Lesson program is offered in one week sessions during July and August.  The program offers lessons for beginners to advanced swimmers and has seen thousands of kids participate over the history of the club. Private lessons are also available upon request.

Public swim sessions are offered during the weekends in June and thoughout the week in July and August. Nothing can compare to a refreshing swim in our outdoor pool on a hot day.

The Club also offers pool space for private functions and parties and can be booked by calling or emailing the Kin Pool Manager.
