NYAC Member Commitments and Assessments 2020-2021

It takes 40 volunteers to run a small meet, – without you there would be no swim meets!  NYAC hosted meets raise funds for our club and are used to subsidize fees.  In addition, our swimmer's see the results of their practice and dedication. As we work through our Return to Play plan to ensure we are compliant with all public heath mandates, decisions will be made around competitions.

A member’s main commitment activity is meet officiating.

**Not fulfilling the requirements in this area will result in a NON-PARTICIPATION PENALTY of $125 per missed session charged to the member account. Sessions earned over your session obligation will earn a $75 credit to your account.**

A session refers to a section of the meet that is approximately four to five hours long. The required commitments for all competitive families for the 2020-2021 season will be 7 sessions, volunteers must be >14 year of age and have taken the officials courses required for their position.

NYAC Hosted Meets schedule will be developed as we learn more from Swim Ontario.

Every family is responsible for seven session commitments in the 2020/2021 swim season as follows:

  • Three sessions must be completed upon commencement of the swim season in Fall, 2020 and January 31, 2021
  • Four sessions must be completed between February 1 and June 30, 2021

Failure to complete three session requirements by January 31, 2021 will lead to a charge of $125.00/session missed. A failure to complete four sessions between February 1 and June 30, 2021 will lead to a charge of $125.00/session missed. Please also note the following should you decide to withdraw from NYAC:

  • If you withdraw before the swim season starts, you are not responsible for completing any sessions
  • If you withdraw prior to Dec 7, 2020, you are responsible for two sessions
  • If you withdraw between Dec 8, 2020 and Jan 31, 2021, you are responsible for three sessions
  • If you withdraw between Feb 1, 2021 and May 15, 2021, you are responsible for six session

Any exceptions to these terms are subject to approval by the Board of Directors.

Points Program
Our Points Program is published in the NYAC Handbook. Points earned will be applied towards next year's fees.

Swim-a-thon - VOLUNTARY
Each family is asked to raise funds for our annual Swim-a-thon. Most clubs in Ontario participate in a Swim-a-thon as a way of support for the sport of swimming and as a method of financial support for the club.
