NYAC Member Commitments and Assessments 2022-2023

It takes 40 volunteers to run a small meet – without our parents, there would be no swim meets!  NYAC-hosted meets help raise funds for our club and are used to subsidize fees.  In addition, our swimmers see the results of their practice and dedication. .

COMMITMENTS

A member’s main commitment activity is meet officiating.

**Not fulfilling the requirements in this area will result in a NON-PARTICIPATION PENALTY of $125 per missed session charged to the member account. Sessions earned over your session obligation will earn a $75 credit to your account.**

Meets
A session refers to a section of a meet that is approximately four to five hours long. This usually is a morning, afternoon or evening session. The required commitments for all competitive families for the 2022-2023 season will be 8 sessions; volunteers must be >14 years of age and have taken the Officials courses required for their position.

NYAC Hosted Meets schedule will be developed as we learn more from Swim Ontario.

Every family is responsible for eight session commitments in the 2022/23 swim season as follows:

  • Three sessions must be completed between September 30, 2022 - January 31, 2023
  • The remaining five sessions must be completed between February 1,  2023, and June 30, 2023.

A failure to complete eight sessions by June 30, 2023, will lead to a charge of $125.00/session missed.

Please also note the following should you decide to withdraw from NYAC:

  • You are responsible for four sessions if you withdraw between January 1, 2023, and May 15, 2023.

Any exceptions to these terms are subject to approval by the Board of Directors.

Swim-a-thon - VOLUNTARY
Each family is asked to raise funds for our annual Swim-a-thon. Most clubs in Ontario participate in a Swim-a-thon as a way of support for the sport of swimming and as a method of financial support for the club.
