PSW Invitational Recap

Jy Stewart

On February 1st and 2nd PSW hosted our second swim meet of the season at Grandview Heights. This meet is a higher level competition where swimmers that attend UBC come to race and we have swimmers from all over the province as well as from the states out to compete. This is the only long course meet that we host and this year we had 20 swimmers compete. Not only was it great to see the success of the swimmers who were racing, but it was excellent to see all the support from our growing group of volunteers to allow this meet to run! A huge thank you to everyone who donated their time to allow this meet to run and us, as a club, to bring in fast swimmers to race at our pool!

Swimming highlights included:
Leila F achieving 3 Olympic Trials time standards in the 50 free, 100 free and 100 fly
Sergey C breaking the 13-14 long course provincial record in the 400 IM in 4:37
Anastasia C swam to her first Western Championship time in the 50 Free
Raymond Z swam a very gutsy 200 Free
Sebastian M swam his first long course 200 IM

These swimmers will be racing again next month March 5-8 in Victoria for BC Provincial Championships! Go PSW Go!
