ROCS World Tour

This past weekend, 45 ROCS swimmers competed at our first eastern Ontario regional championships since the winter of 2020. This meet brought together 17 different clubs for three days of racing at the Nepean Sportsplex. Our theme for the meet was the ROCS World Tour and our swimmers raced like rock stars, earning 112 new personal best times over the weekend.

To help our swimmers visualize their collective efforts, Coach Josie painted a rockin’ best time board shown below. Every star on the board is a personal best by a swimmer! As you can see the board is filled with new personal achievements!

There were several club records broken at regionals and we wish to congratulate the following swimmers/relay teams:

We also want to recognize the following individual male medallists from this championship meet: Avery Hollingworth (3rd - 50 Breast, 10 and under), Louis Lalonde (3rd - 400 Free, 2nd - 400 IM, 13-14), Olivier Risk (2nd - 200 Free, 1st - 200 Fly, 15 and over), and Jackson Waddell (1st - 50 Free, 15 and over). Way to go boys!

Our lone female medalist was Sawyer Bosely (1st - 50, 100, 200 Free, 1st - 50 Fly, 15 and over), who returned from training with the University at Buffalo, New York, where she completed her first year as a Division 1 scholarship athlete. Sawyer needed to re-qualify for provincials and nationals as her times all dated pre-covid and were no longer eligible. She not only went undefeated in all four events she swam, but qualified for this summer's Canadian Swimming Championships in each of them as well!

The coaches are very proud of our swimmers’ efforts this past weekend. Everyone showed up with a great attitude, brought their team spirit, and loudly supported their teammates every time they raced. Thanks to all the family and friends who also attended and cheered on our competitors! ROCS ROCK!
