ROCS Swimmers Finish Strong at Ontario Youth Junior

This past weekend four ROCS swimmers, Logan Milne, Ryan Ait mamar, Louis Lalonde and Arthur Galiano raced at the Ontario Youth Junior Championships hosted at the Markham Pan Am Centre.

This competition featured over 840 swimmers from over 60 teams from across the province. This year the meet did not feature any de-qualifying standards that in previous years prevented faster swimmers from entering in their best events, thus making the meet deep and competitive at every age category.

Despite the heat, crowded pool deck, and lack of a warm-up/cool-down pool in the facility, our swimmers performed admirably, rising in the rankings and setting best times in 16 out of 20 events performed over the weeked, an absolutely terrific result! This is even more impressive as a number of those best times were converted from their best short course performances, and others were from just two weeks ago at our regional championships.

We also wish to highlight the fact that Arthur qualified for finals in the 13 and under category in all 5 of his swims, Louis won a silver medal in the 400 IM in the 14-year old boys category, and both Ryan and Logan had multiple top 20 finishes in events that had between 60 to 80 athletes competing.

Way to go boys in standing up against some of the toughest competition from around Ontario! ROCS ROCK!
