Big Time Drops in Kingston

We had some great competition the weekend of February 24-26th featuring 45 of our swimmers that we wanted to highlight for all of you. Coaches Amanda, Hanna, and Bruce, descended to Queen’s University pool for the Kingston Blue Marlins Heats & Finals Finale. This invitational offered one day of preliminaries and finals for our 13 & over swimmers. For many of our 12 & under swimmers this was the first invitational with travel. Everyone did an awesome job representing ROCS! The atmosphere on deck was positive, loaded with team spirit and peer support. Our cheer squads had the pom-poms out, face paint on and cheering voices loud and proud!

ROCS had five swimmers qualify for their first finals session! Way to go Claire Anderson, Kaitlyn Crinjala Faca, Lauren Gravelle, Samantha Laliberté and Hadley Meredith! ROCS also added another regional qualifier to our team. Way to go Avery Hollingworth!

The Heats & Finals finale is known for its 25m freestyle eliminator event called the Dash for Cash which offers cash prizes for podium finishes. ROCS had four swimmers advance to the third and final round for their age group where they could win prizes (1st = 50$, 2nd = 40$, 3rd = 20$): Daliane Cardinal (4th), Joshua Seely (3rd), Raphael Pons (2nd), and Tyler Laliberté (2nd).  Congrats swimmers!

Swimmers kept track of their improvement using our ROCS STAR board. Each sticker placed on the board was a second dropped. Coach Amanda brought over 600 stickers and our ROCS swimmers completely wiped out her stash by the end of the meet. There were over 240 best times which is an over 80% improvement rate and over 10 minutes of time dropped. Way to go ROCS swimmers!
