Long time athlete and coach turned coach and owner of both ROC Swimming and Zone3sports.  Happy to help wherever possible.

Nicolas Bélisle Head Coach, Senior Performance Lead

For the past seven years Nico has led the Senior Performance group and he looks forward to working with this group once again in the 2017-18 season; it is always a fun and exciting challenge to try to bring out the best in swimmers and help them meet their goals. He is passionate about sharing both his knowledge and love of the sport to athletes, parents, other coaches, and really anyone who will take the time to listen! A former swimmer whose resume includes being one of the original ROCS swimmers and captain of the University of Toronto varsity team, Nico is a level 2 trained coach. 

Amanda Macdonald Academy Red/Jr Performance Lead Coach

Coach Amanda is back at ROCS for her fourth season as the Junior Performance Coach. Amanda is an NCCP Level II trained coach with over 15 years of competitive swimming experience. Amanda has been a staff member on provincial teams and volunteered her time with Provincial Sport Organizations. She is working as a Registered Dietitian, helping athletes use food and nutrition to meet performance goals. Coach Amanda is passionate about teaching and believes that providing positive challenges in the training environment help her swimmers to grow as athletes and as people.

John Hawes Multi-Sport Lead Coach

As a long time athlete, coach, educator and administrator, John’s career spans over 50 years. John is a five time Olympian  (Munich, Montreal, Beijing, London, Rio). John is a certified NCCP Coach(Level 3) who looks forward to coaching the Triathlon group swimmers once again this season!

Kelly Paradis Academy White Lead Coach
As an age group swimmer Kelly swam for the Cornwall Sea Lions. While attending University she swam for the New Brunswick varsity swim team. In 2002 she began her coaching career in Columbia Maryland (USA) where she coached age group swimmers  from ages 7-13 years of age. In 2006 she returned to Canada and started coaching age group swimming within the Ottawa area.  
Kelly's involvement in swimming also runs in the family, her mother also coached for 14 years, her sister has coached and her brother, Patrick, is the head coach of the Cheena Swim Club in north shore Vancouver.
Aside from coaching she is a mom of 4 amazing little girls as well as a professional civil engineer and professional project manager working in the field of land development, and ROCS is more than grateful that Kelly finds the time to be part of our team!
Kristine Deacon Comp Dev Co-Lead Coach

Kristine returns for her 4th season of coaching with the Junior Black Group.  Kristine has an extensive background in swimming, having swam and coached with the Cambridge Aquajets for 12 years, and as an intern in the sport community.  She had the unique opportunity of working with the Grenada Olympic Committee for one year, where she also coached with two swim clubs and taught young girls how to swim using the ocean instead of a pool! 

Kristine is currently Manager, National Teams for Athletics Canada, and is "thrilled to be back with the Junior Black swimmers, having the opportunity to contribute to tomorrow's Provincial, National and Olympic swimmers."

Mohamed Aly Academy White Assistant Coach

This season ROCS welcomes Mo as a coaching assistant with our Academy White group. Mo grew up in Cairo Egypt where he began his swimming career. At 13, Mo set the Egyptian national record for the 50m Backstroke for his age group, and later became a member of the Egyptian Junior National Swim Team. Currently Mo is an international student at Carleton, in his third year of Mechanical Engineering, and also a member of Carleton's varsity swim team, where he ranks 3rd on Carleton's all-time top 20 list in 2 events. ROCS is pleased to have Mo as part of our coaching staff, sharing his skills and experience with our AC White swimmers.

David Thibodeau Academy White Assistant Coach

As an age group swimmer David swam with the Milton Marlins and the Fredericton Aquanauts Swim Team. While attending university he swam for the University of New Brunswick and Carleton University varsity swim teams. He started coaching in 2011 in Fredericton where he was coaching pre-competitive, ages 5-9. In 2016 he moved to Ottawa and started coaching with ROCS in 2017. Outside of coaching David works for the federal government and is passionate about how sports can have a positive social impact and believes that sport is a powerful facilitator for solving some of the most pressing social issues of today.

Cristina Nasui Assistant Coach

Coach Cristina is in her first season as the Junior Black Assistant Coach.  Cristina is an NCCP Level II trained coach. Previously, while at NCCP level I, Cristina coached the novice groups of Burlington Aquatic Devilrays Club and before that swam with the Masters of the Universe club at the University of Toronto.

Academy Red and Junior Black Assistant Coach

Miguel is returning to coach Academy Red for his second year with ROCS. This year, Miguel will also be invovled with the Junior Black group as an assistant coach. Miguel previously swam with ROCS as an age group swimmer for three years and one year for Carleton Univeristy as a varsity swimmer. Miguel currently works as a physiotherapy assistant during the day.
