Long time athlete and coach turned coach and owner of both ROC Swimming and Zone3sports.  Happy to help wherever possible.

Nicolas Bélisle Head Coach

For the past 11 years Nico has led ROCS as Head Coach and he looks forward to working with this group once again in the 2021-22 season; it is always a fun and exciting challenge to try to bring out the best in swimmers and help them meet their goals. He is passionate about sharing both his knowledge and love of the sport to athletes, parents, other coaches, and really anyone who will take the time to listen! A former swimmer whose resume includes being one of the original ROCS swimmers and captain of the University of Toronto varsity team, Nico is a level 2 trained coach. 

Amanda Macdonald Head Age Group Coach

Coach Amanda is back at ROCS for her 8th season as the Head Age Group Coach. Amanda is an NCCP Level 3 coach with over 15 years of competitive swimming experience. Amanda has been a staff member on provincial teams and volunteered her time with Provincial Sport Organizations. She is working as a Registered Dietitian, helping athletes use food and nutrition to meet performance goals. Coach Amanda is passionate about teaching and believes that providing positive challenges in the training environment help her swimmers to grow as athletes and as people.

Miguel Chavez Head Assistant Coach

Miguel returns to ROCS for his 5th season as an Assistant Coach. Former ROCS swimmer, Miguel also swam varsity with Carleton University. He is a NCCP Level 1 Coach that is working on his Level 2 Certification. Additionaly, Miguel coaches masters swimming and has a background in lifesaving.  

Kristine Deacon Assistant Coach

Kristine returns for her 6th season of coaching with the Junior Black Group.  Kristine has an extensive background in swimming, having swam and coached with the Cambridge Aquajets for 12 years, and as an intern in the sport community.  She had the unique opportunity of working with the Grenada Olympic Committee for one year, where she also coached with two swim clubs and taught young girls how to swim using the ocean instead of a pool! 

Kristine is currently Manager, National Teams for Athletics Canada, and is "thrilled to be back with the Junior Black swimmers, having the opportunity to contribute to tomorrow's Provincial, National and Olympic swimmers."

Josie Edwards Assistant Coach

Josie is a recent graduate from Laurentian University with a degree in Sport Psychology. During her time at Laurentian she swam varsity, and was one of the captains for the team. She is a Level 1 NCCP coach, with her NLS certification.  Josie loves the mental side to sport, and always strives to create a positive and supportive space for her athletes. She loves to see her athletes work hard and push themselves past their comfort zones.  Josie is so excited to be a new member of the ROC team & looks forward to this 21/22 season!

Robert Nitescu Assistant Coach

Robert is with ROCS for his first year as a coach. Having swam for Carleton University, Robert wishes to continue his involvement in the world of swimming. He has a background in lifesaving and teaching swim lessons.
