Palaschuk on the podium at Nationals

A total of 346 athletes from 104 clubs are participating in the 2019 Canadian Swimming Championships at the Pan Am Pool in Winnipeg, Manitoba from August 8th to 12th.  Representing Regina are Mitchell Brough, Bree Crookshanks, Rebecca Dean, Alice DeCoteau, Taylor Hebert, Ryan Jensen, Michael McGillivray, Brian Palaschuk, Emma Spence, Matthew Syrgiannis and Mya Thompson all from the Regina Dolphins Swim Team.  UofR Cougar swimmers, Brendan Van Herk and Etienne Paquin-Foisy are also swimming but representing their home clubs.  And Jean-Philippe Dufresne formerly of the Regina Dolphins Regina will swim for the University of Laval.  
 
Brian Palaschuk won the silver medal in the men's 400m individual medley in a time of 4:25.41 on Friday night.  Palaschuk added a 4th place finish in the 200m IM in 2:04.03.  
 
Mitchell Brough set a new provincial time standard in the men's 15 to 17 age division in the 50m butterfly with 25.31 breaking a record he set earlier this summer.   He finished 13th in that event.  
 
JP Dufresne was a member of the team who won the gold medal in the men's 4X100 freestyle relay.   
 
Other top ten finishes for Regina swimmers include: 
- Michael McGillivray who finished 8th in the men's 1500m freestyle in 16:07.84 
- Emma Spence was 8th in the 200m Breaststroke in 2:36.60.  A gutsy swim for Spence who had to withdraw from the remainder of the meet due to illness.  
- Etienne Paqin-Foisy finshed 8th in the 400m IM in 4:34.41
