Age Group Development Program

For swimmers age 8-10 who want to learn to swim competitively.


  • Completion of Rapids Swim School (or comparable program)
  • Pass Level 2 and Up: Legal 100 IM under 2:10. Legal 100 Free under 1:50. 

Regional Development Program

For swimmers age 11-13 who want to develop their competitive skills.


  • Rapids Swim School or Red Cross Level 10
  • Assessment by a Rapids coach

Provincial and National Age Group

For advanced swimmers age 11-14.

Prerequisites for Provincial Age Group:

  • 3:10 for 200 IM
  • 6:00 for 400 Freestyle
  • Minimum 1x Tier 1 standard (LC season age group) in a 200m or longer event 

Senior Provincial

For swimmers age 14 and up.


  • Tier 2 qualified or “on-track” 


For advanced swimmers age 14 and up.


  • Qualified for Western Nationals (3 events) or Junior Nationals (3 events) 

Youth Fitness

For swimmers age 11 and up who want to get healthy and learn the competitive swimming style.


  • 11-15 years old
  • Rapids Swim School Level 4, or equivalent to a legal 100m FR, 100m BK & 50m BR (Red Cross 10 minimum)

Youth Competitive

For swimmers age 13-17 who would like to continue to train and race on a moderate programming schedule.


  • Has previous competitive experience, either with Rapids or a year round or summer program.  

Winter Maintenance

For competitive summer swimmers looking to keep in shape during the winter.


  • Summer swim club member for previous season
  • Intention to swim with their summer club program for following season

University Swimmers

For swimmers away from their university looking for off-season or holiday training.
