The Richmond Rapids Swim Club was formed in the fall of 1999 as an amalgamation between the Aquanaut Swim Club and Richmond Racers. By pooling together their resources, coaches, swimmers and volunteers the Rapids began a journey has led the club to become one the the largest and most successful competitive swim clubs in the province of BC.  In 2014, we were named the SWIM BC Short Course Provincial Champions and the 2014 Swim BC Club of the Year.
Our club operates out of both Watermania and Minoru pools. Our learn to swim program, the Rapids Swim School, (children 5-10 years of age) runs out of Minoru pool. At Watermania, we have competitive programs for children 8 years of age and higher.  We also have non competitive programs for swimmers 11-15 years of age.
Our athletes, past and present, compete at regional, provincial, national and international level competitions including the 2000 Olympic Games. They have broken provincial and national records and have been placed on numerours provincial and national teams. Developing the student-athlete is an essential part of our program and a number of our swimmers have gone onto post secondary success. Our athletes have also been recruited for the university teams in Canada and in the United States.  Former Rapids include Olympian Brian Johns & Paralympians Walter Wu & Jonathan Dieleman.
