Rapids Alumni Highlights at U-Sport Champs

Drew McClure

Three Rapids graduates recently competed in their freshman debut at U-Sport Champs. Brian Yu competed for McGill, and Matthew Crawford and Matthew Meuleman both raced for UBC

Yu finished 9th in both the 50 free and 100 breaststroke. His performance in the 50 breaststroke earned a silver medal.

Crawford finished 4th in the 50 back, 6th in the 100 back, and 16th in the 200 back, all three in personal best time. Crawford’s 100 back also earned him a new Olympic Trials cut.

Meuleman finished 16th in the 200 free, 18th in the 100 free, and 23rd in the 100 fly, all personal bests. Meuleman also swam on the gold medal-winning UBC 4x100 freestyle relay.

UBC swept the meet for a fourth consecutive season, winning the Men’s, Women’s, and Team Championship banners.
