By Alex Pettifer After two weekends in a row of racing, the Rapids ended December and 2019 with some great swims, not to mention some great work from our parents at both Fastswim and the Winter Time Trial. 130 Rapids swimmers competed at Fastswim, representing eight training groups. By Darryl Rudolf Last weekend, over 70 swimmers from RD Blue, AGD, Youth Comp, and Senior Provincial competed at the Gators/SFU LMR over two days. Everyone swam fantastic with lots of best times and many first time events and races! This was the first full meet of the season for most of the swimmers and they put their hard work on display. They put up some impressive stats for this early in the season. By Darryl Rudolf Last Saturday, we hosted our first Pass meet of the year, which included over 40 swimmers racing for the first time this year. At Pass meets, young swimmers have their first introduction to racing as a part of the developmental process. There are two different levels. By Vlad Volchkov On July 4th, the Richmond Rapids competed in the 2019 BC Summer Provincial Championships, hosted by Island Swimming and Swim BC. Swimmers from the NAG, SRP, and National groups represented the Rapids over the four-day heats and finals meet. There was also a swimmer from our Provincial Age Group, Maddie Leung. By Vlad Volchkov On June 21st, the Richmond Rapids travelled to Chilliwack to compete at the Summer Age Group Championships in Chilliwack, hosted by the Spartan Swim Club and SwimBC.  The Richmond team consisted of 24 swimmers from the AGD2, RD Black, and PAG groups. LMR Champs is an excellent opportunity for swimmers to display their fine-tuned racing skills from the entire season.
