2022-2023  Season Registration Information

  • Not all fees are listed in the program descriptions. Full program fees will be provided at registration. 

NEW MEMBERS: New members are defined as:

1. Children that have not participated in any Rapids program before. (ASSESSMENT REQUIRED)

2. Enrolled in Summer camps in July & August 2022. (ASSESSMENT NOT REQUIRED)

3. Children waitlisted (and taking lessons) or not active members as of June 1, 2022.  (ASSESSMENT REQUIRED)

4. Swimmers transferring from other Swim BC clubs. (Please contact Dennis at [email protected] if assessment is required)

RETURNING MEMBERS: Returning members are defined as: 

  • Swimmers that participating in RSS, AGD, RD, REGIONAL, SR REG, SRP, NAT, Youth fit porgram during the 2021-2022 season and were active mebers as of June 1, 2022. 

New Member Registration Procedure:

1. Drop in to a In-Person Assessment, Registration and Team gear order day at Watermania. 

  • Saturday August 27,  9:00 am - 1:00pm  (assessments end at 12:30pm)
  • Tuesday August 30, 5:00-7:30pm (assessments end at 7:00pm)

2. Have your child assessed for a level in our program.

  • Please take note before attending of the pre-requisites and approximate skill level required listed below for entry level programs.
    • Rapids Swim School Level 1 - Born 2014 -2016 approximate equivalent of Red Cross level 4 completed, ability to swim 25m of front crawl and back crawl.
    • Rapids Swim School Level 2 - Born  2013 - 2016 , approximate equivalent of Red Cross level 6 completed. 
    • Rapids Swim School Level 3 - Born  2012 - 2016, approximate equivalent of Red Cross level 8+ 
    • Rapids Swim School Level 4 - Born 2012 -2016, previous competitive swim club experience
    • Age Group Developent 1 - Born 2012 - 2014, previous competitive swim club experience & Legal 100 IM 
    • Youth 1 - Born 2011 - previous competitive swim club experience & Legal 100 IM 
    •  Youth Fitness (non competitive option) - Born between 2009-2011 & completion of Red cross level 10. 
    • Senior Fitness (non competitive option) - Born 2008-2007-2006, previous swim club experience, ability to swim 100m of freestyle, backstroke, breastroke and dolphin kick.

3. Register your child and order team swim suit. 

  • Space is available on a first come first served basis. 
  • Space will be limited due to returning members having priority registration from August 8-19.
  • Swimmers not able to register will be able to be placed on a wait list. Wait lists do not carry over from one season to the next. 

Returning Member Registration Procedures (See Registration package for full details)

1. Registration for Returning members will take place online via the Rapids website between August 8 at 9pm and 19.

  • Fee payment forms/ group placement form will be emailed to members in July. 
  • All outstanding fees from 2021-2022 season must be paid in full before August.
  • Space is not guaranteed. Please ensure you register for the level shown on the fee payment form provided. 

2. Families paying 2022-2023 season fees by cheque or cash are required to drop off payment at Team Gear order days. 

3. All members are required to order a team swim suit.

  • Swim suit fees are included in the registration fees. 
  • Sizing kits will be available at Team Gear order days.
  • Returning Member Team Gear  & Payment Drop off Dates (ALL AT WATERMANIA Multi purpose room)
    • Monday August 22,  5:00-7:30pm 
    • Wednesday August,  24 5:00-7:30pm 
    • Saturday August 27,  9:00 am - 1:00pm 
    • Tuesday August 30, 5:00-7:30pm

Important Changes for 2022-2023 season: 

1. Programs for swimmers 11 & over have been adjusted to more specific age groups, technical skills and commitment to competition schedule. 

  • RD, REGIONAL, are now YOUTH 1, YOUTH 2
  • PAG will now be split between  YOUTH 3 (12-13 year olds) and AGD 3 (under 12) 
  • AGD 1 will now have a separate 11 year old group and 10 & under groups. 
  • AGD 2 & AGD 3 includes 11 & Unders.
  • Youth Fitness is now Youth Fitness (12-13 yr olds) and Senior Fitness (14 & Over).
  • Swimmers that have turned 11 years old and aged of the Swim School level 2 will be offered the Technical Development group. This group is only for returning swimmers. 

2. Watermania will be closed for maintenance in September. (Normal procedure prior to March 2020)

  • RSS 2,3,4, Youth 1,2,3, AGD, 1,2,3, Sr. Regional, SRP & National will swim at Steveston Outdoor pool for September 12-October 2. 
    • See schedule in Registration Information Booklet.
    • In order to provide space for all these groups, reduce training will take place and may include dryland only sessions. 
  • Youth Fitness, Senior Fitness and Technical Development will begin once Watermania re-opens on October 3.
