With the most normal swim season upon us since early 2020, the competitive swimming governing bodies in Ontario are excited to re-introduce performance based swim camps to its membership. The Western Ontario Swimming Association will be hosting the first, where six athletes from ROW have been selected. This ties Windsor Aquatic Club with the most representatives selected to attend. The second training camp is hosted by Swim Ontario, labelled the Provincial Youth Selection Camp where ROW will have one representative attending. Congrats to all athletes selected and their coaches! The Region of Waterloo Swim Club is very pleased to welcome Ron Forrest as our new Provincial Development 1 and WLU Varsity Associate coach for the upcoming season. Ron has over 25 years of coaching experience working with swimmers who have raced at all levels of competition including the World Championships and the Olympic Games. Dear ROW Families: As many of you know, several of our groups attended two provincial-level championship meets over the weekend: the 2022 Summer Festivals in Etobicoke for 13 and under swimmers and the Ontario Youth Junior Championships in Markham for senior swimmers. ROW athletes have had exceptional success in these competitions, as you can see below. At Festivals, ROW swimmers earned many personal bests and 14 medals (6 gold, 5 silver and 3 bronze) and scored enough points to place 5th out of 53 clubs! This is a level of...
Swim Ontario has recently announced that all scheduled Winter provincial-level meets are canceled due to the lack of opportunities to train affecting most swimmers in the province in the past few weeks. They are planning a series of swim meets to be held in March and April instead. ROW is very proud to congratulate Tyson MacDonald for setting a new National Para-Swimming Record! On December 4th, 2021 in Montreal, Tyson swam a 100 IM race in 1:07.44, which represents a new Canadian SM1 SC Para-Swimming Record! Way to go, Tyson!!! The Region of Waterloo Swim Club is very pleased to recognize Payton Felder for her fundraising efforts during this past year. Payton raised over $1,200 in order to help pay for attending the International Children’s Games in Hungary.
