ROW Summer Day Camps:

 

1. New Athlete Camp (1/2 day) – July 10th to 14th – 12:00pm to 4:00pm

  • Description: The ROW Swim Club is running a week long half day swim camp designed at teaching and introducing all four strokes and competitive swimming skills to swimmers aged 8-12. We are looking for athletes who may have interest in competitive swimming but don’t have any prior competitive swimming experience. We are a passionate swim club and are always looking for new members to join!
  • Camp Features: The new swimmer camp is going to provide a learning experience through a healthy balance of learning, fun and games to teach technique and skills associated with competitive swimming.
    • Water sessions: using personalized feedback and different teaching methods athletes will be exposed to all elements of competitive swimming.
    • Dryland sessions: Our dryland coordinator has developed a dryland program for the week that targets athletic abilities associated with competitive swimming both in and out of the water. Mobility and injury prevention will be prominent topics covered.
  • Eligibility: In order to participate in our swim camp swimmers must be competent in freestyle and backstroke being able to swim 25m independently. Some knowledge of breaststroke is an asset. Swimmers must be able to support themselves and be confident swimming in deep water.
    • New swimmers must be assessed prior to registering for our swim camps to ensure they meet the eligibility criteria. To find out about upcoming assessment dates please contact [email protected]
  • Cost & Payment: The cost of the camp is $300 for the week. Payments can be submitted via e-transfer or can be paid by credit card online through the registration process. **Early bird price $285 for registration by May 14th.

Pool Session – Introduction to:

  • Technical development of all 4 strokes
  • Dives, Turns, Finishes
  • Push-offs & Underwater skills
  • Games and Competitions

 

2. Junior Performance Camp (Full Day) – July 17th to 21st – 9:00am to 4:00pm

  • Description: The ROW Swim Club is running a week-long swim camp designed at teaching/refining proper technique and skills to athletes aged 9-12. We are looking for athletes who are passionate about racing and are looking to expand their swimming knowledge through a fun and encouraging training environment.
  • Camp Features: The junior performance camp is going to provide a learning experience that will allow athletes to perfect their craft and establish habits both in and out of the water to achieve their performance goals.
    • Water sessions: We will be using high quality video feedback along with personalized feedback from the coaching staff to assist athletes in becoming more technically proficient and efficient in the water. Learning how basic biomechanics contribute to movement in the water will be a main focus of the week.
    • Dryland sessions: Our dryland coordinator has developed a dryland program for the week which targets athletic abilities associated with competitive swimming both in and out of the water. Mobility and injury prevention will be prominent topics covered.
    • Guest Speakers: There will be guest speakers who will educate the athletes on habits they can develop outside of the pool to enhance their racing performances and achieve performance goals. There will be a session on nutrition and one on developing healthy mental skills in sport.
  • Eligibility: Swimmers should have a competitive swimming background and need to be previously registered swimmers with Swim Ontario. Swimmers must be competent in all four strokes being able to swim 50m of each.
  • Cost & Payment: The cost of the camp is $500 for the week. Payments can be submitted via e-transfer or can be paid by credit card online through the registration process. *Early bird price $485 for registration by April 30th.

  • Flip Turns + Breakouts
  • Dives + Finishes
  • Open Turns + Relay Takeovers
  • Back Starts + Crossover Turns
