Ready to join ROW?

Thank you very much for your interest. If you have not swum competitively before, you will require an assessment or try-out, in order for the coaches to advise you on your optimal group placement.



ROW is offering the following try-out / assessment sessions for new swimmers wanting to join the club:

Assessment Information:

Date – Tuesday, December 21

Location – Wilfrid Laurier University Athletic Complex, 75 University Ave. W., Waterloo

The times available to register are:

5:00-5:30pm – 12 spots available

5:30-6:00pm – 12 spots available

In order to participate in the assessment you will need to fill out an online registration, you can register through the following link:

There is also a ROW Health Attestation that must be filled out prior to arriving on the day of the assessment. The link to access the document is here:

**You must arrive 15 minutes prior to your start time so our coaches can take attendance and make sure all required forms have been filled out and returned to ROW. Late arrivals WILL NOT be escorted into the facility and will miss their assessment.**



1. Minimum age: 4 years old.

2. Children should be comfortable in the water and without Mom or Dad on the deck.

3 . Swimming ability:

· Swimmers 4-6 years old: comfortable in shallow water, can demonstrate some swimming ability on their front and back for 5m without stopping.

· Swimmers 6-8 years old: must be able to swim 25 yds/m free and/or backstroke without stopping.

· Swimmers 9 years old and older: must be able to swim 50 yds/m in both freestyle and backstroke, with knowledge of breaststroke. 


***The Wilfrid Laurier University has implemented a mandate that requires all athletes aged 12& over are to provide proof of double vaccination in order to enter any facilities on the university campus. Please DO NOT email your proof of vaccination, you can either print off a copy or show us a copy on your phone in person on the day of your assessment - we are trying to protect the privacy of all athletes to the best of our abilities.
