Saskatoon Goldfins Meet Preview Report - February 3, 2022

As you are aware, due to the current situation of Covid-19 in the province, Swim Saskatchewan is currently reviewing competitions that are to take place over the next 8 weeks.  Meet Management for the Saskatoon Goldfins Al Anderson’s Source for Sports Winter Long Course Classic, in consultation with Swim Saskatchewan has determined that a large swim meet is not feasible at this time due to the continuing rise of Covid-19 cases and hospitalizations in the province.

As a result, the current sanctioned 3-day Open invitational competition will be modified.  The club will be submitting an application for a sanctioned 2-day timed finals competition on February 5 and 6, which will be open to Saskatoon based clubs only.

Meet Management carefully weighed out the desire for coaches and swimmers to have a competition in February with the current guidance from Dr. Shahab and Swim Saskatchewan in making this decision. Ultimately, having close to 300 swimmers from around the province in the building at the same time was seen as too much of a risk of a COVID outbreak.  Our top priority remains safety for swimmers, coaches, and officials.

We thank you for your understanding and patience.
