Saskatoon Goldfins Swim Club Is Now Hiring Coaches for the 2021 - 2022 Swim Season

COACHING OPPORTUNITIES

SASKATOON GOLDFINS SWIM CLUB is dedicated to promoting and developing the sport of competitive swimming in Saskatoon.  As a member of the Goldfins coaching staff, you will become part of a dedicated team that works together to support Goldfins swimmers in developing their competitive swimming skills and training abilities.  Coaches support swimmers in training sessions, at local, at regional, and at provincial swim meets.  Coaches promote inclusion and engagement in a friendly supportive environment.

            Position Title:          Goldfins Competitive Swim Coaches &

      Junior Goldfins (Swim Lessons) Coaches

            Term:                        September 1, 2021 – June 30, 2022

            Hours:                       Variable based on position (6 – 14 hours/week),

      Special Events, Swim Meets (Weekends as required)

            Pay:                           Salary rate based on certification and experience

            Locations:                Shaw Centre and/or Harry Bailey Aquatic Centre

 

Job Summary

These coaching positions are ideal for an experienced competitive swimmer and/or water safety instructors who are interested in sharing their time and talents with young swimmers. Coaches are responsible for coaching assigned training groups or lessons.  They will provide  leadership and supervision, while instructing and motivating swimmers.  Coaches will create and maintain an enjoyable, challenging, clean and safe training/competitive environments.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Reports to Head Coach and/or Program Supervisor designate
  • Assesses swimmers: promoting goal setting, by providing progress monitoring
  • Designs and implements training session/lesson practice plans
  • Provides reports to supervisors, parents, and swimmers as required
  • Assists and supports team-related activities
  • Attends competitions as required

 

Requirements

  • Available to work flexible shifts and arrive 15 minutes prior to start of shift
  • Ability to assess, instruct, and demonstrate proper stroke and skill techniques
  • Strong leadership qualities, sound decision making, and ability to respond effectively

 

Qualifications

  • NCCP Community Coach and/or NCCP Fundamentals (Swimming 101)
  • Respect in Sport Coaching Course
  • Police Record Check (18 years of age & older)
  • Must enjoy working with young swimmers
  • Experience as competitive swimmer and/or water safety instructor experience, or equivalent
  • Must be a minimum of 16 years of age
