Masters Provincial Records continue to fall at Goldfins Spring LC Masters Meet

Seventeen Goldfins Masters competed at their final Masters Long Course meet of the season. Shaw Centre this weekend on May 8, 2022.

“It was great to see the Goldfins Masters swimmers get to enjoy themselves at this final meet of the season,” said Gary Cheung, Saskatoon Goldfins Masters Head Coach.  “This could not happen without the support of our volunteers and meet management. We could not thank them enough.”

A total of 11 Masters Long Course (LC) Provincial Records broken including multiple 4 X 50M Freestyle Relays.

Brody Fowler broke 1 LC Masters Provincial Records in the 35-39 Men category. He has set a new record in 200M Backstroke at 2:43.62.

Denise Gilewicz broke 1 MC Masters Provincial Records in the 55-59 Women category. She has set a new record in 50M Backstroke at 45.55. 

Heather Hynes broke 1 LC Masters Provincial Records in the 40-44 Women category. She has set a new record in the 100M Breaststroke at 1:29.83.

Darcy Pawlik broke 1 LC Masters Provincial Records in the 40-44 Men category. He has set a new record in 100M Freestyle at 1:00.70.

Tara Reichert broke 2 LC Masters Provincial Records in the 40-44 Women category. She has set new records in 200M Backstroke at 2:55.09 and 100M Backstroke at 1:21.43.

Sacha Thompson broke 2 LC Masters Provincial Records in the 45-49 Women category. She has set new records in 400M Freestyle at 5:38.08 and 200M Freestyle at 2:38.85.

The highlight of the meet occurred during the relay events. Three out of the four relay teams broke provincial records. In Masters’ relay events, the age group is determined by the total age of the four swimmers in the relay team.

 

In the Women’s 4 X 50M Freestyle Relay, Charlene Zaidan, Denise Gilewicz, Megan Robin and Susan Ryan set a new record in 200-239 Women category at 2:39.13.

 

In the Men’s 4 X 50M Freestyle Relay, Gary Cheung, Alan Long, Kelly Burke and Cameron McCarty set a new record in 160-199 Men category at 2:14.20

In the Mixed 4 X 50M Freestyle Relay, Brody Fowler, Heather Hynes, Darcy Pawlik and Tara Reichert set a new record in 160-199 category at 1:57.28.

Special recognition goes to Kyla Ledingham, who competed every freestyle events offered at the meet including relays (50M, 100M, 200M, 400M, 800M individual freestyle events and women 4 X 50M Freestyle.
