Several UCSC groups competed at the NCSA Fall Invitational last weekend including - 12A, B, C and D and the Regional group. It was great to see everyone getting off the blocks in competition! On the up side, the swimmers posted a huge number of best times, winning many races and showing true grit in close races. The meet began with a few DQs, especially the first night of the competition, but as the meet progressed swimmers paid closer attention to their racing skills and tactics. It was a great...

THREE MEETS IN ONE WEEKEND! CASCADE MINI PRO The TREX and 12 stream swimmers competing at the Cascade Mini Pro Series gained valuable experience on Friday October 29th. The meet came right on the heels of our Team Champs and the Fall Start Up, and the Dino’s were competition-ready. There were many best times, lots of super turns and finishes, some bungled ones (i.e. learning experiences), and a few DQS (i.e. learning experiences) in the stroke events. The Dino’s were a big group of swimmers with wide and varied levels...

The first two competitions of the season were a huge success for the Dinos! We had Kamryn Cannings breaking two club records in 50Free with a time of 25.96 as well as 100Fly (1:00.22). Rebecca Smith, who competed at this past summers' Olympic Games and is now a member of UCSC and the Varsity UofC Dinos, smashed three of the club records in 50Fly, 100Fly and 200Free with respective times of 26.62, 57.58 and 1:54.71 in those events. This was the first time many of our younger swimmers in TREX...

The final day of Olympic Trials was filled with excitement and a little bit of sadness as we watched the final races of some of our senior swimmers. Ella Varga brought the heat in Women's 200Back, finishing the final in 5th with a huge best time of 2:11.95. Way to go Ella! Men's 200Back had both Richie Stokes and Rob Hill competing in the event. Stokes popped under the 2 minute mark for the first time in prelims and continued this trend into finals, ending with a 3rd place podium...

Day four of Trials: Stephen Calkins snuck under the 50 second mark for the first time in his 100Free prelims race. He ended the evening with an exciting sixth place finish tucking it under the 50 second mark again for a final time of 49.88. Matt Ketchin competed in the Men's 200Breast, finishing 12th overall with a personal best time of 2:20.94. It was a great first event for him as he sets up for the 400IM tomorrow. Our final competitor was Kate Rendall who raced the Women's 200Fly, ending...
