What a weekend of swimming for our UCSC swimmers at the two-day Holiday Classic competition! With over 120 swimmers participating in the meet coming from squads ranging TREX to Black 15’s, UCSC was a dominating presence on deck and in the pool! As the meet was relatively small and there were finals for all age groups, swimmers were given a great opportunity to race their events and achieve their goals. With these favourable conditions and given it was the last meet of the year, we saw a huge number of best times and medal winning swims.

Day 1’s events included the 100 back, 50 breast, 100 fly, 50 free, and 200 breast. We saw 52 individual swims advance to the finals of which 29 were medal winning swims (13 gold). The relay on day 1 was the 200 Meter Medley Relay in which we swept all age groups. We also had Jordan Lloyd break the girls 11 year old 50Br club record with a time of 36.99. Way to go Jordan!

Day 2’s events included the 200 IM, 200 fly, 100 free, 50 back, and 50 fly. We saw 55 individual swims advance to the finals of which 27 were medal winning swims (9 gold). The relay on day 2 was the 200 Meter Free Relay where we once again swept in all age groups.

The meet was a great success and it was an awesome chance for swimmers to gain experience swimming both prelims and finals in their events. With the Dinos being the overwhelming majority of the swimmers in the meet, the atmosphere in the pool for our swimmers was electric. What a great way to end the cycle and year!

A big congratulations goes out to the following swimmers for acheiving their first ever AB Provincial time!
