Dinos take the win at AB Spring Championships 2019

The Alberta Spring Championship was held from March 14-17 in Edmonton, bringing together the top swimmers in Alberta for some fast racing. Throughout the weekend the team saw lots of great swims, best times, medal-winning and record-breaking performances.

Rachel Nicol, preparing for the World Championship Trials, swam the 100 breaststroke in 1:08.61 and earned the top overall female swim of the meet.

Club Records were broken by Kimberly Song (50 breast), Kamryn Leslie (200 back), Kamryn Cannings (100 fly), Sydney Stewart (100 fly), Sienna Rodgers (50 fly), Maxine Clark (50 fr, 100 fr, 200 fr, 400 free, 50 fly, 100 fly, 200 fly), the Girls 15-17 400 Medley Relay (Hannah Bennett, Kimberly Song, Laura Albers, Elizabeth Ling), and the Girls 13-14 400 Medley Relay (Kamryn Leslie, Alicia L’Archeveque, Kamryn Cannings, Eliza Housman).

Additionally, Provincial Records were broken by Maxine Clark (50 fr, 100 fr, 200 fr, 50 fly, 100 fly), and the Girls 13-14 400 Medley Relay (Kamryn L, Alicia, Kamryn C, Eliza).

The team had many new meet qualifications for the following meets:

World Championship Trials:  Liam Dennett, Calli Giroux, Alicia L’Archeveque, Kamryn Leslie, Kennedy Scott

Canadian Junior Championship: Hayley French, Calli Giroux, Talia Nicholson, Kennedy Scott, Sydney Stewart, Joshua Summers

Western Canadian Championship: Kaycee Cannings, Yaseen Daoud, Hayley French, Ryenne Katterhagen, Sophie MacLean, Abdel Yasser

Finally, 100% best times were achieved by the following swimmers: Meghan Abel, Gibson Black, Kamryn Cannings, Matthew Cheung, Meredith Chicilo, Maxine Clark, Rio DaCosta, Yaseen Daoud, Hayley French, Delaney Janzen, Phillip Juricek, Isabella Korczewski, Kamryn Leslie, Sophie MacLean, Kealeigh McLeod, Demetrios Mylonas, Aiden Norman, Karah Petersen, Sienna Rodgers, Jeremy Ro, Natalia Rusnakova, Connor Sortland, Sydney Stewart, Karyssa Summers, Lorne Wigginton.

At the end of the weekend the team again won the overall Large Team Title by over 300 points and earned 22 Gold, 13 Silver and 35 Bronze medals. Congrats to the team on an awesome weekend!!
