Gold Program 2019-2020

Program Description

This program is designed for the athlete that is beginning to move in the direction of “performance” swimming. Fees and Commitments

The Gold level is considered to be a competitive program within the Upper Canada Swim Club. Families in competitive programs generally have four major types of commitments as members: Governing Body Fee, Membership Fee, Volunteer Points, Swim a Thon and Meets.

The swim season is starts in September and goes until June.  We accept swimmers throughout the year, so long as there is space in the pool.  Fees can be paid either up front for the entire season or by month. In all cases, swimmers must register online and at that time they will pay the Governing Body Fee, which depends on the age of the swimmer.  Billing for all plans then starts on October 1. More information on membership fees can be found here.

Governing Body Fee

This is a single time fee which is paid to Swim Ontario and Swim Canada at the time in the season when the swimmer joins.  It covers club insurance for the swimmer and is based on the swimmers age as of December 31st, 2019.  The table belows shows this fee.

Group Fee
Competitive - Age 8 and U $121.40
Competitive - Age 9 - 10 $141.40
Competitive - Age 11-14 $161.40
Competitive - Age 15 and O $181.40

Monthly $161.80 $145.62 $129.44 $113.26 $0.00

Volunteer Service Points

Each family with one or more swimmers in a competitive program (Bronze through National) is required to earn 15 volunteer points by June 30 of each swim season. Alternatively, families choosing not to perform volunteer jobs can 'buy out' their obligation at the time of registration for $300. Any points that aren't earned will be billed at a rate of $20 per point on July 1. More information on volunteer points can be found here.

Swim a Thon

Swim a thon is the major fundraiser for the Club and occurs in March of each year. Swimmers are asked to collect pledges beginning in January or February and the program culminates in each swimmer completing a distance swim. Every swimmer in a competitive program agrees to raise a minimum of $250 for Swim a Thon, with any amount not raised being billed to accounts on May 1.

Meet Fees

As a competitive program, Gold swimmers are given the opportunity to compete in swim meets each year, which are mostly held locally. Because these are hosted by other Clubs, there are entry fees associated with participation usually amounting to about $10 per event plus a coach expense fee of $20 per invitational and Regional level meet, per swimmer. Provincial and National level meets will have a higher fee, amount to be confirmed. Swimmers will generally enter about 6 events per meet. These fees are billed to accounts throughout the year as they occur.
