KAJ Snowfest JANUARY Swim Meet The Kokanee Swim Club raced this past weekend, January 20-22, 2023. The H2O hosted heats and finals with many excellent performances coming out of the weekend, especially the finals sessions. 29 Kokanees took part in the three day meet which produced 223 new best times. The Vernon Kokanee Swim Club participated in the Kamloops Ice Classic Swim Meet this past weekend, December 9-11. With heats and finals there were many excellent racing opportunities for the Vernon swimmers. The Vernon Kokanee Swim Club had 12 swimmers representing the club this past weekend in West Kelowna, Dec 3rd, 2022. The Jamboree meet was well attended from across the Okanagan. Out of the 12 swimmers at the meet, VKSC brought home 36 new and best times. We had 73% best times across all athletes. The Vernon Kokanee Swim Club had 23 swimmers representing the club this past weekend in Kelowna. With a fairly limited number of swimmers right across the Okanagan the sessions went fast. The swim meet included the 1500 Freestyle. In all we had 78 new best times from our 23 swimmers. 100% new or best times in all events came from Geneviere Darveniza (6 races) and Kilian Russell (5 races). The Vernon Kokanee Swim Club hosted a swim meet at the Vernon Recreation Centre over the November 4-6th weekend. At the annual fall swim meet Vernon hosted 135 swimmers from 6 clubs from the interior which included Salmon Arm, Kamloops, Kelowna, Penticton, and Summerland teams. Vernon raced 39 swimmers during the main meet and an additional 29 swimmers during our Jamboree swim meet for newer swimmers. The Vernon Kokanee Swim Club had a successful swim meet in Penticton over the October 14-16 weekend. Penticton hosted their annual Pentathlon swim meet along with a Jamboree for newer swimmers, which included 9 teams from the interior and lower mainland. The VKSC fielded 25 swimmers and achieved 136 new best times in the Pentathlon and 10 swimmers in the Jamboree.
