President's Message - February 2021

Hello Whitby Swimming Families!

Welcome back to the second part of our season.

I would like to thank all our families for your support and understanding and join you in looking forward to eventually getting all Whitby Swimmers back into the pool.

Our first part of the 2020-2021 season was a great success and you can count on us to work hard in making the second part a success as well.

We have a dedicated team of Coaches who continually strive to meet and exceed programming for all groups.  I wish to thank the Coaches for putting all of you first and making sure we can deliver the best experience possible.

I would also like to thank our Board of Directors for their dedication to the Club and thank the outgoing Directors for volunteering their time to serve on the the Board: Derek Mitchell, Carolyn Publow and Alison Davidson we will miss you! You provided strong leadership and helped Whitby Swimming successfully navigate through challenging times. Thank you!

As you know, we had some recent changes to the Board at our last AGM resulting in another strong and talented team. I know our current Board is working hard behind the scenes to keep Whitby Swimming moving along steadily.  Our Fundraising Director, Tanya Baglole started her tenure with an outstanding Meat fundraiser in December.  Thank you Tanya!

It is important to keep all of you informed and up to date on news affecting our Club.   Rest assured, your Board will continue our efforts to communicate changes to programming as soon as we can.

For those of you who may not be aware, we do have one swimmer training at TPASC.  Whitby Swimming’s very own Elite swimmer Megan Drover-Smith is part of the group of identified swimmers in Ontario, training under the Provincial High-Performance Exemption and we are super proud of her.  She has been steadily training with Coach Olivier with the goal of competing in the upcoming Olympic Swimming Trials.  Good luck Megan!

In closing, I wish to extend a simple thank you to all the swimmers, parents, Coaches and volunteers; you are what makes Whitby Swimming a great Club and I am confident that together we will move through these difficult times and celebrate with each other in the near future.
