Our Coaches

Loren McCoy - Head Coach

Loren is the husband to one (Maria) and father to three (Ian, Rachel and Roy Diego,) in 1978 he graduated from the University of Kentucky which he attended on a four year athletic scholarship for swimming. After college Loren was the Head Age Group Coach for the Coronado Swim Association from 1979-1981, he was the Guatemalan National Swimming Coach where he developed eight Guatemalan swimmers for the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles. Loren is also the 100th person to swim successfully from Catalina to the Coast of California in eighty years (SwimCatalina.org).

Randy Souza - Strength/Conditioning Coach

Randy served 34 years in the fire service and retired from Los Angeles Fire Department at the rank of captain. He received a bachelor's degree in professional studies from Long Beach State. He has also won the California mixed pairs bodybuilding championship, then moved on to take second in the national championships as well as second in the North American championships. Moved on to powerlifting and was more successful than bodybuilding. Winning all but 2 events ever competed in and ranked in the top 10 in California and the top 25 in the United States for a 220-pound class.  

Trevor Hoyt - Coach

  • 2012 Olympic Trials finalist 7th place 200 Breast

Cal Berkley

  • Was the 2012 NCAA runner-up in the 200 breast with a school-record time of 1:51.90
  • Also placed sixth in the 100 breast at the 2012 NCAA meet with a time of 52.55
  • Was third at the 2012 Pac-12 championships in the 200 breast
  • Besides Cal's top time in the 200 breast, has the school's seventh-best all-time mark in the 100 breast (52.52)

Yucaipa High School

  • Was a two-time CIF Southern Section champion in the 100 breast and 200 IM
  • Named the 2009 Yucaipa High School Athlete of the Year
  • Owned school records in the 200 IM (1:46.96), 100 breast (55.24) and 500 free (4:30.20), and was a member of the top 200 medley and 200 and 400 free relays
  • Was a two-time High School Academic All-American
