2021 Western Zone Championships
August 4-7 ● Lewisville, TX

CCS will be sending 24 All-Star team members to compete in the 2021 Western Zone Championships. The Zone team will be travelling to Dallas, TX by plane, flying from Fresno-Yosemite Air Terminal on Monday, August 2. The meet starts Wednesday, August 4, with a full schedule of preliminary and final events. The meet concludes with a swimmer party Saturday night.  We will travel back to Fresno on Sunday, August 8. All athletes will be expected to stay together as a team through Saturday evening.

All CCS swimmers 14 & Under who have at least two Zone qualifying times are strongly encouraged to apply for selection to the 2021 Zone team. All applications are due by SUNDAY, July 25, before the end of the final session of the CCS Long Course Junior Olympic Championships. Swimmers who do not have two Zone qualifying times, are welcome to apply and selection will be based on the perspective ability to qualify for finals.  The selected zone team will be posted on the CCS Zone Team Website by Tuesday, July 27.  Selected athletes will be notified by email before that date.

How does a swimmer qualify for the Zone meet?

  1. Male and female swimmers in each age group will be selected by the Zone coaching staff based on Zone qualifying standards.  Qualifying times shall be the swimmer's best time from the first day of competition of the prior year Western Zone Swimming Championship to the entry deadline of the current year and be listed as officially verified times in the USA Swimming database.
  2. Swimmers with six Zone times will be selected first. If there are more than 24 swimmers with six qualifying times, the final team will be selected by the Zone coaching staff, with preference given to those swimmers most likely to make finals. If there are not enough swimmers to complete the team, then:
  3. Swimmers with five, four, three and then two Zone qualifying times will be selected in that order until the team is filled. In the case of a tie, the swimmer, who in the opinion of the Zone coaching staff, with the greatest chance to qualify for individual finals swims will be given priority.
  4. Swimmers with less than two Zone times will be considered on a case by case basis only if the team is not filled and their single Zone time is in an event that, based on the coaches opinion of the previous years final times, the swimmer has a high likelihood to qualify for finals.

Do the athletes have to stay with the Zone Team?

NOT THIS YEAR.  We will offer team travel; however, any family who feels that team travel does not provide the safest situation to guard against highly contagious viruses, such as COVID-19, may opt to make other arrangements, but still receive reimbursement up to the same amount that the other team travelers receive on their travel and expenses.  Otherwise, all Team CCS athletes, chaperones, and coaches will be required to stay with the team throughout the trip. Swimmers with a disability who require special care will be required to travel with a parent or other designated adult.  Swimmers will not be allowed to leave the team until Saturday evening, August 7, and only to their parents, legal guardian, or designated adult who must sign the swimmer out. Please thoroughly read the Athlete Code of Conduct found in this packet. We encourage parents attending the Western Zone Championship to cheer for all Team CCS swimmers and would appreciate it if they would volunteer as officials/timers.

The deadline to apply is SUNDAY, July 25 by the close of the finals session of the 2021 CCS Summer Junior Olympics.  Online applications can be accepted thru Saturday, July 24 by midnight.  Click here to start your online application: https://www.teamunify.com/MemRegStart.jsp?team=cczone  or use the attached application to apply on paper to be received by the deadline by mail, hand delivered, or scanned and emailed.

I'm excited about what it looks like to get back to what Team CCS does:  TOP TEAM SPIRIT and COMPETITIVE AWESOMENESS!  Let's go!

Sincerely,
