CBAC Swim Team Training Update, March 16th 2020

Hayley Palmer

Good evening all CBAC families

I hope that everyone has had a chance to spend time with their families and settle into the new changes with schooling and work.
The coaching team are all working together to develop programs that can be delivered and offered over the next few weeks to work within the guidelines set out by the Cayman Government and other international authorities within our sport.
However, for this week, we are implementing a mandatory training break for all Swim Team groups - Sprats, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Senior & Swiftness. This is effectively bringing forward the planned break that would have coincided with the April holidays. During this time, there will be no formal programs offered by Coach Grant or myself to any training groups. The athletes have had a very busy training period since Christmas and have earned some time off to rest and recover.
We ask that families also respect the directive of the Camana Bay Sports Complex and do not use their facilities, even if you have key access.
The current climate is unprecedented, and there is a lot of uncertainty. However, I am confident in our community to be proactive, logical and considerate of the needs of those who are at risk, and in making the most of this rare opportunity to connect with family and understand the things that are most important to us.
Please remember that there are those in our CBAC and wider communities who are reliant on the majority to help them stay healthy and make it through; Social distancing and good hygiene practices are essential and important in supporting those at risk and our health system.
We encourage all of our athletes and parents to look after their physical and mental health during this time, and look forward to showing you what we have in store for when we return to programming.
I will be in touch later this week with a further update on CBAC programs. If you have any questions, please get in touch with myself, Coach Grant or a member of the board.
