IMPORTANT - PRACTICE CHANGES BEGINNING, Monday, February 1

Mark Bennett

GREAT NEWS!  Starting Monday, February 1, the lifting of the “stay at home” order is allowing us to relax some of the Covid Precautions that were made in the past 2 months.  THIS MEANS WE CAN START TO BRING BACK SWIMMERS, WHO WERE DISPLACED, so our schedules will need to move slightly to accommodate everyone.

Here’s what is new:

  1. We do not have to operate in “pods;” however, the County is asking that swimmers stay with their groups exclusively until we are in the red level, so that contact tracing is more easily done.  We will be making some group move ups and then sticking with those for a while, until
  2. We will have assigned entry and exit points, per coach/group.
  3. We will be allowed to have FOUR swimmers per each lane (with 2 swimmers sharing each wall on either side of the pool, and circle swimming).

Here’s what’s not new:

  1. MASKS!  The County and CUSD is asking that masks be worn by EVERYONE on CUSD property.  Swimmers who fail to bring a mask will be sent home.  Swimmers will also be asked to wear the mask until just before getting in the pool and just after exiting the pool.
  2. The showers are still not available for use at the pool.
  3. The locker rooms are still not available for changing into and out swimsuits.  Please have your child wear the swimsuit to and from the pool.
  4. The restrooms will only be open in an emergency basis.  Please have your child use the restroom at home before leaving for the pool.

Please refer to the attached schedule draft for practice times and sites.  All swimmers will be returned to the same groups in which they were participating before they were displaced.

I know that they weather isn’t quite ideal, right now, but it will be, REALLY SOON!  We are hopeful that we will be able to give your swimmers the “full CSC treatment,” in the upcoming months as restrictions loosen.  We even have sanctioned swim meets in the works as the County is starting to allow inroads for inter-team competition.

It’s important to remember that we are still doing everything we are being asked to do by CUSD and Fresno County to guard against the spread against COVID-19.  Any parent who is feeling uneasy by any relaxation of the precautions for COVID-19, we ask that you contact the office or your child’s coach with your concerns.

Sincerely

Coach Mark and the CSC Coaching Staff
