Parent Code of Conduct

Parent/Guardian(s) are required to remain at the aquatic facility for the duration of their swimmers' Lessons and are responsible for their swimmers before and after Lessons. Instructors do not assume responsibility for swimmers until entering the water with them. Swimmers are not permitted in the Lesson space prior to the Lesson start time or before their instructors are ready and available.

I understand and agree to the following: TideWater Swim School/GPAE reserves the right to end lesson(s) at any time for unmanageable, disruptive, and/or aggressive behavior or any action from a participant or Parent/Guardian that puts any participant, instructor, or family at risk. Such behaviors include but are not limited to biting, kicking, hitting, scratching, pulling hair, verbal harassment or any such behavior deemed inappropriate that causes bodily or mental harm and/or creates an unsafe environment for any persons involved. Lakers reserves the right to remove participants and Parent/Guardians who do not adhere to behavior standards at the time of any incident and/or all future lessons. No refunds or credits will be given in these situations.

I agree not to interrupt my swimmer(s)’ lessons. I acknowledge that undue interruption disrupts the pace of learning, and undermines the quality of instruction.

I will remain at the pool and within an observable distance from the area of instruction at all times. I understand in compliance with the Center for Safe Sport all interactions between athletes and coaches need to be observable and interruptible. However, I will not interrupt during regular instruction and will only interrupt if I am concerned for the safety or well being of my swimmer.

I agree to set the right example for our children by demonstrating sportsmanship and showing respect and common courtesy at all times to the team members, coaches, competitors, officials, parents, and all facilities.

I will refrain from coaching my child from the stands during practices or meets.

I understand that criticizing, name-calling, use of abusive language or gestures directed toward coaches, officials, volunteers, and/or any participating swimmer will not be tolerated.

I understand and acknowledge that in compliance with the Center for Safe Sport all instructors and coaches are legally mandated reporters.

I will direct my concerns first to my instructor; then, if not satisfied, to the appropriate supervisor.
