Boulder Swimming offers training and practice groups for swimmers of all ages and ability levels, with a long term approach to your athlete's mental and physical development.  It is our goal to offer age specific training for all of our athletes geared towards challenging and developing each individual to the best of THEIR abilities.

The coaching staff makes decisions on group placement based on a season long process of watching swimmers' daily practices AND meet habits.  These are guidelines that help the coaching staff place athletes in the appropriate practice groups and are not absolute.  The coaching staff and head coach have final say on all group assignments regardless of written guidelines.  All group assignments are subject to change by the coaching staff at any time throughout the duration of the swim season.  Moving up to a higher level is merit based and coaches consider the following when evaluating an athlete's readiness for moving up:

  • Athlete's Goals
  • Lane Leadership/Practice Attitude
  • Effort in practice and at meets
    • Wanting to learn/progress
    • Listening to ALL coaches
    • Ability to get out of your comfort zones!
  • Attendance at practices and meets
  • Underdstanding Drills and Technique
  • BLDR Test Set Performances
  • Coach's evaluation of the athlete's ability to handle the next level of practices

These are entrance requirements and should be looked at as such.  Each group will be trained to improve in all aspects of their swimming and to aim beyond the next group requirements creating a progressive long term approach.

  • 5 of 6 practices Mon-Sat
  • 3 Saturday practices a month
  • 6 meets for Winter
  • 5 meets for Summer

  • 2-4 of 5 practices M-Fri
  • 2 meets for winter
  • 1 meet for summer
