Congratulations CMA Seniors At State
From July 18 through the July 21 CMA had 9 athletes compete at the Colorado Senior State Championships. Our swimmers competed in 30 individual events and two relays. Most of our swimmers managed to get themselves into the top 30 at least once in events that hosted at times almost 100 of the state best swimmers. During finals, CMA was represented a total of 15 times, 10 of which were in the 'A' final. Leading the way was Caroline Bricker, who managed to swim in 7 individual finals, with her lowest finish being third place and included two individual State titles (100 breast and 200IM). Caroline was able to finish strong in her final event to win the 13-14 girls high point trophy! Sophia Bricker managed to put herself in three 'A' finals in an age group that included college swimmers. Ysa Carrell surprised during the meet with a huge drop in her 100 breast that launched her from being seeded 56th before the meet and into the 'C' final at night. Another great meet was had by Isaac Eilmes, who placed himself in the top eight in his age group in both the 1500 free (6th) and 800 free (3rd) with huge time drops in each event. Cardin Nguyen was able to shake of his first day jitters (100 breast) for his second individual event (200 breast) where a nice time drop propelled him into the 'C' final. Bethany Slivka also managed to record big time drops in some of the toughest events on the schedule, the 200 fly (finished 17th), the 800 free (finished 12th) and the 1500 free (finished 11th). Amaya Porter posted a new best time in her 100 free, and Kambry Lightfoot and Michael Mehall both came close to posting best times at the meet but fell slightly short.

After it was all said and done, CMA finished in 15th place in the combined scores which was the second best in Colorado Springs!  Congratulations to all!
