Blue Group

Coaches

Description

  • Blue Group swimmers will continue to follow our team philosophy of improved technique with all four strokes, along with exceptional practice habits, will lead to better short-term and long-term success
  • Swimmers will be challenged with a variety of technique drills to improve balance, body position, core strength, and efficiency per stroke
  • Conditioning (aerobic development) with interval training begins to take on a more important role

General Age

  • 9 to 11

Skill Requirements

  • Swimmers must be legal in all four competitive strokes, including the ability to perform a dive and flip turn
  • Athletes need to be able to follow instructions in a group setting, along with cooperating and displaying good sportsmanship to teammates
  • Swimmers should have a basic understanding of timed intervals

Practice

  • Practice is offered six times per week for one and a half hours; Monday through Saturday. 5 times per week during the Summer
  • Swimmers should attend 3 to 4 practices a week, 4 if at the State level
  • We are currently using our Winter Practice Schedule
T-TH 6:45 - 7:00pm Dry Land
M-T-W-TH-F 7:00 - 8:30pm Practice
Sat. 10:00 - 11:30pm Practice

Practice Equipment

  • Swimmers are required to have fins, snorkel, and pull buoy
  • We recommend two pairs of goggles, nose clip, and a water bottle

Swim Meets

  • Swimmers should attend at least one meet per month and Championship meets
  • Our goal events for the Blue Group are 200 freestyle, 200 IM, and 100 butterfly

Cost

  • $125 per month
  • $72 USA Swimming annual membership
