2022 Age Group Zone Team Selection Process/Eligibility
 
TEAM SIZE
  • Each Local Swimming Committee (LSC) that fields a team and competes at the Western Zone Age Group Championship is limited to a roster of 80 total athletes.

SELECTION CRITERIA

To be eligible for consideration for Team Colorado, swimmers must meet ALL criteria below: • Athletes must be a current registered member of Colorado Swimming

  • Athletes must be no older than 14 years of age on the first day of competition, August 3, 2022.
  • Athletes must achieve qualifying times between August 8, 2021 and June 26, 2022. Please note: CSI LC State Championships will NOT fall under this deadline and times from those meets will NOT be considered for team qualification.
  • Athletes’ applications must be submitted on or before July 1, 2022. Applications submitted after July 1, 2022 will NOT be considered.

SELECTION PROCESS

  • Team Colorado athletes will be selected from the pool of applicants that have applied on or before July 1, 2022 ONLY.
  • Athletes will be selected using the tiered system (detailed on the right side of this page), selected in order of “Priority Level,” and in the following order:
1. By selecting the top 8 athletes per gender, per age group for a total of 48 athletes, THEN
2. By Selecting the remaining 32 athletes, regardless of gender or age group until the team cap of 80 athletes has been reached

​Chaperone Information

Chaperones for Team Colorado are parents with swimmer(s) attending the Zones meet who have expressed interest in chaperoning the trip by submitting an application.  Two female and two males parents are chosen, preferably with past experience on a team trip or a Colorado Swimming sponsored travel trip in a chaperone capacity.  Those individuals accepted are sponsored by Colorado Swimming and expected to travel, stay at the hotel with the team, in addition to participate in all team meals and transportation.

ALL Chaperones MUST be USA Swimming registered which includes a background check and safe sport (APT) done through USA Swimming.
