PARK VIEW PENGUINS SWIM TEAM
The Park View Penguins Swim Team is a member of Colorado Association of Recreational Athletics (CARA). The league focuses primarily on the enjoyment of swimming and less on competition. You can find more information about the league at https://www.cpra-web.org/page/CARA.
To join the Park View Swim Team we require the following:
- Each swimmer must be able to swim the length of the pool in a recognizable stroke. This will be assessed prior to the start of practices, when pool time is available, or the first night of practices.
- Each family must volunteer for at least one volunteer time slot for each meet the team hosts. We need everyone's help at every meet. We're still determining if we will be hosting any meets this summer.
The team is seperated into two groups:
- Penguins (Beginner Group): The Penguins Team is for the younger, less experienced swimmers. The coaches will work with the swimmers on stroke refinement especially with breaststroke and butterfly. Swimmers will also work on starts as well as freestyle and backstroke flipturns. Swimmers must be able to safely swim across a 25-yard pool with any of the four competitive strokes: freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly.
- Emperor Penguins (Advanced Group): The Emperor Penguins Team is for the older, more advanced swimmers. The main focus of the group is to increase strength, speed, and endurance. Coaches will also work with swimmers on perfecting their technique. Swimmers must know all four competitive strokes.
We encourage your swimmer to attend as many practices as possible for their designated group. This helps your swimmer learn more technique and become stronger swimmers.
We strongly encourage you to bring your swimmer to all the swim meets. These are fun events that allow the swimmers to celebrate their hard work at practice and their improvement and successes over time.
Minimum Requirements
Swimmers need to be able to safely swim across the pool using any of the 4 strokes: Freestyle (Front Crawl), Backstroke, Butterfly, or Breaststroke. Expect the swimmers to swim 15-20 lengths during the practice. You can setup a tryout by selecting the tryout tab
