The Pueblo Swim Club offers pre-competitive and competitive swimming programs for beginners through elite swimmers. It is our mission to provide programs that allow individuals to have fun, work hard, achieve swimming goals and develop important life skills to help them succeed throughout life.

Orange Group 

A pre-competitive program that is 100% technique based. The focus of this group is to gain confidence and enjoyment in the water by teaching basic swimming skills of body/head position, leg propulsion, arm propulsion, breathing and stroke coordination for the four competitive strokes.  Other skills that will be taught are dives/starts, finishes and turns for all strokes/races. 

Requirements:

  • The swimmer must be able to swim 25 yards of freestyle, with proper side breathing, and 25 yards of backstroke.  This swimmer must be also have been introduced to the breaststroke and butterfly strokes.   For ages 5-12 yrs. or at coach’s discretion.

Fees: Monthly Dues - $70;  +  One time fee of $20 for annual USA Swimming Flex membership (2019-2020)

  • Tuesday & Thursday * Dryland - 5:00-5:30pm; Swim - 5:30-6:30pm @ South HS Pool
  • Saturday * Swim - 10:30-11:30am @ South HS Pool

JR2

Swimmers in this group are the up-and-comers, transitioning from Orange group, continuing with technique refinement, competition experience, and training skills.  Swimmers in this group have the opportunity move to JR1, SR2, or SR1 depending on their age, commitment level and ability.

Requirements:

  • 12 and under
  • Be able to swim 50 yds of freestyle and backstroke and 25yds of butterfly and breaststroke; perform open turns, flip turns and racing starts.

Fees: Monthly Dues - $85;  + One time fee of $74 for annual USA Swimming membership or one time fee of $20 for USA Swimming Flex Membership (only allowed 2 sanctioned swim meet options within the year) (2019-2020)

2020 Training Schedule

  • Monday/Wednesday* Dryland - 5:30-6:00pm; Swim - 6:00-7:00pm @ Central HS Pool
  • Friday * Swim - 6:00-7:30pm @ South HS Pool
  • Saturday * Swim - 9:00-10:30am @ South HS Pool

JR1

This group is for advanced swimmers ready and able to make a strong commitment to swimming and learning life skills (teamwork, strong work ethic, self-reliance, confidence, organization). The emphasis will be improving the swimmer’s fitness and technique in order to qualify for higher level age-group competitions. Practices are designed to help the swimmer meet competitive goals at swim meets. 

Requirements:

  • 12 and under
  • Must be at 1:50 – 100 Free pace interval (based on pace set)
  • Must be at 2:10 - 100 IM pace interval (based on pace set)
  • Must be at 2:20 - 100 Kick pace interval (based on pace set)
  • Expected to attend a minumum of 4 swim practices per week 
  • Expected to attend at least 1 meet per month (full meet – 2 days of a 3 day; or 2 days of a 2 day)
  • Expected to attend the appropriate championship meet at the end of each season

Fees: Monthly Dues - $100;  + One time fee of $74 for annual USA Swimming membership fee (2019-2020)

SR2

Swimmers in this group love to swim, but have other priorities in their life that preclude them from fully committing to swimming.  They have goals to be strong high school swimmers and are still exploring the possibility of swimming beyond high school.  Swimmers in this group have the opportunity to work toward moving to SR1 if their priorities change and want to become further committed to their swimming career.

Requirements:

  • 13 and over

  • Expected to attend a minimum of 5 swim practices and 2 dryland practices per week
  • Expected to attend at least 1 meet per month (full meet – 2 days of a 3 day; or 2 days of a 2 day)
  • Expected to attend the appropriate championship meet at the end of each season
