Head Coach Shelby Vaughn

Coach Shelby Vaughn started swimming at 7 years old through her local YMCA team. She quickly grew to love the sport and moved to the local swim club, KMSC in Oklahoma City. Shelby spent the next 10+ years swimming at the club and high school level. She loved any distance or butterfly event and her coaches never stopped hollering at her to kick more consistently. (Some people never learn!)

Shelby then went on to college at OU without swimming, but the leadership skills she gained from the sport never left. She held various leadership positions on campus including being president of her sorority and leading international mission trips. When she talks to swimmers about life-long benefits of the sport, it’s because she has lived them.

She majored in English Education and went on to receive her Master’s in Literacy. She currently teaches 7th grade ELA in Pueblo West. Shelby brings the joy from the classroom to her coaching technique, believing that all swimmers can improve while having fun and knowing the value they bring to the team. She has high standards for what makes a team, and instills in every swimmer the foundation to grow into a great teammate and competitor.

Coach Shelby is married to her high school sweetheart, Vince Vaughn. Even though they are polar opposites, they love fishing, hiking, and being outdoors. They recently added baby Will to their family!

Whether your swimmer has goals just to master all four strokes or if they want to reach an elite level of competition, PWSC is the place they can call home. Coach Shelby is determined to foster a sense of community and belonging for every swimmer, making sure that everyone leaves with the skills they need to reach their goals.
