It has been fantastic to finally see our Bears back in the Bonnie Doon pool. Many of our newer members may not realize that the Bonnie Doon pool was one of our largest satellite programs (with more than 80 swimmers) prior to the pool's shut down 4 long years ago. The goal for Keyano is to re-build this program back to being one of the larger swim programs in Edmonton. We will need the continued support of our members to advocate with the City for more pool time at this vital facility. We would appreciate if any members might pass on positive words about Keyano at the pool and with any City officials you may know.

2020-21 Keyano Program

Keyano Fall Programming update: We are expecting a return to all former programs in September, but as of July 24 we do not have any confirmation from the City of Edmonton with regards to lane rental agreements at any of our pools. This is mostly an administrative delay, however we are also waiting for city decisions on how they will accommodate rental vs spontaneous lane use during the continuing pandemic months ahead. We are already working ahead on programming and will provide schedules and fees for 2020-21 as soon as possible.

Registration for 2020-21: Registration is normally open around August 20 of each season. We are still targeting a registration around the normal time, and will update members in August as we learn more about the City of Edmonton's decisions regarding lane availability and usage.

The Junior Provincial group is happy to be back in the water. With the shorter swim workouts, swimmers have found it easier to stay engaged in the entire workout. We have started with the fundamentals again, working on streamlines and body position for each stroke. Swimmers look pretty good considering they just took the longest break of their young swim careers. Dryland has remained challenging with new exercises being incorporated. Swimmers working hard and we've seen improvement over the last month in their conditioning. Attendance has been excellent and swimmers have already adjusted to their new environment.

Let's go Bears!!
