Patrick Kennedy Head Senior Coach

Patrick comes to the Greenwich YMCA from Dallas, Texas where he was the Head Senior Coach at Texas Ford Aquatics in Frisco, Texas. Prior to joining TFA, he was the Assistant Head Coach at Metroplex Aquatics in Allen,,Texas, and Senior Coach at City of Plano Swimmers in Plano, Texas.

Patrick has coached swimmers to Top 100 All-Time in age group rankings, Texas State Champions, Futures, Junior National and Olympic Trial qualifiers. 

Patrick swam for City of Plano Swimmers and Plano Senior High School. While on COPS, he was a multiple time TAGS finalist and NJO qualifier in the 100 and 200 breaststroke. He was also a Texas State Record holder in the 15-16 boys 200 freestyle relay. Patrick graduated from the University of Arkansas where he competed for the Razorbacks for 4 years. He is still an active competitor in Masters swimming, having finished 2nd in the 200 meter breaststroke and 3rd in the 100 meter breaststroke at the 2017 USMS National Championship. In 2019, Patrick won the “Go the Distance” National Championship for the 45-49 age group.

Patrick’s coaching philosophy is one of team excellence through creating a family-like culture where athletes work together through goal setting, personal accountability, and high standards to achieve excellence.

Maura O'Grady Head Coach

Head Coach Maura O'Grady is currently in her 5th year with the Greenwich Marlins. Maura comes to Greenwich YMCA Marlins from the Badger Swim School in Larchmont, NY, where she had overseen the Developmental Program in 2013-14. Prior to joining Badger Swim Club she was the Head Age Group Coach at the Greenwich YWCA Dolphins for 15 years. Maura has joined us with a wealth of knowledge of teaching the fundamentals of all four strokes, starts ans turns. She strongly believes in teaching swimming in the water in order to provide swimmers with hands-on instruction.

Presently, Maura is the Assistant Dean of Students and a member of the PE department at Sacred Heart Greenwich. She has been at SHG for the past 20 years where she oversees the daily life of the Upper School and teaches all students, ages 3-17, how to swim.

During the summer months, she can be found poolside at Shenorock Shore Club in Rye, NY. In 2012 she was awarded the Westchester County Coach of the Year. She is also on the Board of the Westchester County Swim Conference. Her high school teams include Iona Prep and Convent of the Sacred Heart. Her experience with both Greenwich Dolphins, Badger and Sacred Heart makes her a valuable member of the Greenwich community. 

Bill Walsh Head Junior Coach

Prior to joining the Greenwich Marlins, Bill Walsh was Head Coach at Gael Aquatic Club for 5 years and Club Fit Briracliff for one season. While at GAEL Aquatic Club and Club Fit, he oversaw all age groups and was responsible for all administrative duties. He also spent 6 seasons as Assistant Age Group Coach with the Gael Aquatic Club from 2008-2014. Bill has coached numerous Senior Met, Junior Olympic, Eastern Zone, SPEEDO Sectional, Futures and Junior Nationals Qualifiers, as well as Metropolitan Junior Olympic Champions. 


In the summer, Bill is the Head Coach at the Larchmont Shore Club in Larchmont, NY. Prior to being the head coach at LSC, he was the Assistant Coach at the New York Athletic Club in Pelham Manor where he was in charge of the 11-17 age group. Bill has coached numerous Westchester County Champions and Westchester County Swim Conference champions as well as High Point Award winners at Counties and Conferences.

Bill attended Notre Dame High School in West Haven, CT where he was a part of three Connecitcut State Championship Teams and gained All-State and All American honors in his senior year. After high school, he continued his swimming career at Iona College, where he scored at the MAAC Championships throughout his four years of eligibility. Bill excelled in the 100, 200 Fly and 200, 500 Freestyles, and received the most dedicated award in his Sophomore, Junior and Senior seasons and was named captain in his Senior year.
