The health and safety of our staff, swimmers and families continues to be our priority.  With advice from the Westport/Weston health department and keeping in line with updated State,CDC and USA Swimming guidelines, we have adjusted our protocols outlined below.

 

Outdoors/Dryland

Masks are no longer required for coaches or athletes, social distancing is encouraged for outdoor group activities 

 

Indoors/Swim practice

Masks/face coverings must be worn at all times while inside the WMS pool building regardless of vaccination status. Swimmers must wear a mask to the point of entry/exit to the pool - wall hooks are provided at both ends of the pool or we recommend a ziplock bag to place your mask while swimming.

 

We trust our coaches and swimmers to be considerate of all individuals at Weston Swimming and follow our guidelines to help us maintain a safe environment for everyone.

 

Weston Swimming asks our families to voluntarily send in a copy of your swimmers vaccination card to [email protected] We will keep this information private and use as a way to quickly and efficiently facilitate any contact tracing.

 

 

POSITIVE TEST PROCEDURE

 

Any individual who tests positive for COVID-19 will need to be isolated for 10 days from the start of symptoms or the date of the positive test and may return after 10 days if they are symptom free.

 

Unvaccinated individuals

In the event that a swimmer, coach or volunteer tests positive, the following steps will be taken.

  1. The person must let the coaches know immediately.

  2. Contact tracing will be done and any swimmers, staff, or volunteers determined to be at high risk will be notified.

  3. Unvaccinated individuals who are in close contact with a confirmed positive case of COVID-19 are required to quarantine for 10 days (without testing) or may return to practice on day 7 if they have no symptoms and after receiving a negative test result (test must occur on day 5 or later)

  4. If someone in a swimmer’s household has symptoms or tests positive for COVID-19, we respectfully ask that swimmer to remain away from the pool after possible exposure for a period of 10 days.

  5. If a positive case is identified in your school district which results in district closure - please let the coaches know immediately and we respectfully ask that swimmer to remain away from the pool until contract tracing has been completed.

*close contact - A person exposed to a positive case. Has spent more than 15 minutes, within 3ft of a positive case, regardless of mask wearing.

Vaccinated individuals

Vaccinated Coaches/Swimmers who are in close contact with a confirmed positive case of COVID-19 will not be required to quarantine if asymptomatic, and Weston Swimming has a copy of their proof of vaccination. They will be asked to obtain a test within 3-5 days.

*Please note - an individual is considered fully vaccinated 14 days following his/her second shot (or single shot with J&J)

 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Any athlete, coach or volunteer experiencing any symptoms of a fever, recent cough, unusual fatigue, headache, or who has had any exposure to someone who has any symptoms, (which includes family and friends) should remain at home.

Athletes and staff are advised to see a physician and be cleared for training after being diagnosed or suspected to have COVID-19.

If we feel anyone is consistently not adhering to our Covid guidelines, that swimmer may be temporarily suspended from Weston swimming practices. The Weston swimming coaching staff and the Board also reserves the right to discontinue practices at any time should we feel safety expectations are not being met.
