Jon Caswell Head Coach

Coach Jon begins his 6th year with CAC.  In the past 6 years, CAC has produced a USA Future's Champion, numerous USA Future's A finalist, a couple of USA Winter Junior National Qualifiers, and USA Open Water National Qualifier, many USA Sectional A finalists, CT Senior and AG Champions, and 100's of CT Swimming Top 16 swimmers.

Jon came to CAC in 2014 from T2 Aquatics in Naples , Florida , where he served as an Age Group coach to Paul Yetter, the 2008 USA Olympic Assistant Coach.  Jon was also the Head Coach for the T2 Masters Program.   

Before T2 Aquatics, Jon spent 2 years at Hunterdon County YMCA in Flemington NJ .   While at HCY, he led the senior group back to the YMCA National Championships.  In the season prior to Jonjoining the staff HCY did not send a swimmer, but during his two years there they brought over 15 swimmers to the YMCA National Championships.  

Before NJ, Jon spent 3 years as the Head Coach of the Temple Area Swim Club (TASC) in Texas which finished in the Top 8 of their LSC for all 3 years.  He had 2 swimmers qualify for the USA Junior National Championships and another swimmer set an Texas State Record.  He had 2 swimmers (brother & sister) compete for American Samoa at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the 2009 World Championships in Rome, Italy.  

Prior to Texas , Jon was the Head Swimming and Diving Coach at Providence College in Rhode Island for 4 years.  While at PC, his teams made the Academic All-American Team all 4 years with an average GPA of 3.21.  While coaching at PC, he also was the Head Coach/Owner of the Providence Aquatic Club.  The club team finished in the Top 6 at the New England Championships for 5 years.  He has coached numerous Rhode Island HS state champions. 

In 1994, Jon was named the Rhode Island Swimmer of the Year, swimming for East Providence HS.  Jon and his wife Christina married in August of 2012 and reside in Charlestown, RI with their daughter Charlotte.

Amanda Skinner Assistant Coach

Coach Amanda is a Louisville, Kentucky transplant who moved up to the northeast in 2014.  During her swimming career Amanda swam for the Transylvania University pioneers in Lexington, Kentucky from 2009-2013.  In college she was a nine-time record holder, team captain and in 2013 she was named the University’s Athlete of the Year.  Today she still holds the 400 IM record and 400 & 800 freestyle relay record.  Post-college she decided to get back into the swimming community by being on the other side of the sport coaching young athletes in the Metro-Boston area with Crimson Aquatics.  After moving to Groton this summer she is excited to be on the CAC coaching staff and work with Age Group level swimmers again.

 

Outside of competitive swimming Amanda is an artist and museum educator.  She likes to live an active lifestyle by running, swimming, and participating in crossfit.

Madeline Johanson Assistant Coach

Maddie grew up in Ledyard, Connecticut and went to Ledyard high school, where she was on the varsity swim team all four years, and was captain her senior year. She still currently holds the record at Ledyard for the 100 yard breaststroke. She was also very involved in the music program there and was a member of the Carolers and Chamber Choir. She is currently studying early childhood education at Three Rivers Community college, and hopes to transfer to Souther Connecticut State University to continue my education and become a teacher. She still lives in Ledyard, where she works as a swim coach, and as a lifeguard at the New London naval submarine base. Maddie loves to paint, swim and read, and enjoys doing anything outdoors. Maddie swam for CAC during her high school years, and is back to coach.
